Hi all

Just re registered after some time away from the fold! My first proper watch was a Rolex Submariner in the mid 90's, how I wish I had kept it and saved myself £££££ and much heartache. Since that piece I have gone through 6 other Rolex models mainly sport but also a DJ, several Omega SM's and even a Dynamic, 1 IWC AT, at least 2 Breitling (I know), 2 Anonimo and 2 Bremont!
I am now watch less apart from my trusty Casio digital do it all for £20 and in a bit of confusion about which direction to go next.
I am tempted by JLC.
Any suggestions.......

SubC. Unless you wear a suit 5 days a week and don't need a nice watch for the weekend I'd skip the JLC (assuming it's one of their dress watches). If it's a sport model, I'd still pass - I'm not a fan of the compressor case.

As others have mentioned the good news is I'm finally calming down a bit because I have a much better sense of what kind of watches I like and what I'm likely to keep, although tbf so far that's just the Sub.

But I don't do boneheaded things like go buy other diver style watches because although I love them, they never get any wrist time and I end up selling them. I'm more focused now on dressier pieces. I'm saving up, just don't know if it's going to be a JLC, or Daytona.

My record is 1 day . . . shipped it right back after 15 min . . .

But from the day I bought my 16610 it was glued to my wrist

I had to force myself to wear another watch . . .

And I still have the same problem

That is why I am thinking to get a 16618 . . .

From that day I will be a 1 watch owner / wearer . . . I think . . .

HAGOne

Yea, since I got my 16610 I've pretty much gone from a "watch" hobby to a "Submariner" hobby

It has taken a long while to get back into the saddle but eventually got myself the 114060 and think it is a great watch, just a case of holding on to it now........

Hoarder here. I knew it when I found an inexpensive watch in the back of my sock drawer. Had no memory of even buying it, never wore it either.

Omega seamaster 2254.50 goes beautifully with a 16610. All the watches you'll ever need. Apart from a g-shock as they are compulsory to all men.

X2... My girlfriend even says she's glad that it's watches and not some more expensive hobby I am into.

Every new watch I get, before it arrives, I get as excited about it as if it were the best watch in the world. I don't think I've ever had a favorite. My grail now is a vintage 16800 sub. 2 weeks ago, it was an AP RO 15400. 2 months before that, it was a Nautilus 5711 (check my avatar.) Basically, whatever's on my wrist is my grail, until I get home, look in the safe, and find a new favorite for the day.

I've ended up as a combo. Both hoarder and flipper, just depends on if I like it enough.

Some I've not worn for a year, but can't sell. Others I've had for 2 weeks, and off they go.

I am in the middle of flipping one too. Started with a 16710. Went to a 1675 then to a 5512 ( which is currently with my watch dealer for sale ) waiting to flip to a 16750!

16610 is about a classic as a Rolex can be! Great choice!

I long thought the 16610 would be the perfect watch for me, and it was confirmed.
It sounds like you're a one watch type of guy.

Even though you've lost a bit of money flipping it is a hobby after all and most hobbies cost money, part of the fun is the hunt for the next one, looking at wrist shots to gauge how it would look on you and visiting ADs multiple times to try it out.

I had a problem...white faced exp 2 was my first...traded for sea dweller...after that it get hazy and I forget the order but had another exp2, 2 11610s, a 1160LV, modern GMT, sub c with date, 2 vintage gmts, 2 1680s (neither red), a 5513, a14060, a deep sea,

Throw in a speedmaster, and about 6 panerai (164, 236, 28L, zero, 25, and a 212 chrono) plus one planet ocean 45.5 mm, all since the year 2000

Yeah I had problems...

Now wearing a 114060 my favorite to date...perfect size for me...perfect look...for me

This will be the cornerstone for my collection and a keeper...the hunt is on for my next

Perhaps a BLNR or another vintage to compliment the 114060

Of all the watches I've flipped or given away over the years there are only a few I wish I had back.

Now I keep the models I have even if I seldom wear them as when I do wear them I enjoy having them. When I do wear one it then seems like a new watch.

For my present life style the Sub. type suits me best.
