Apples and oranges. Patek is superlative, for what it is. However, my heart belongs to Rolex.

Sport watches for me thank you. Sport watches cut from the mythical, and blessed 904L. If I remember correctly, what makes 904L so special is that it can only be forged in the fires of Mount Doom....oh yeah!

I was a little put off by the tone that Rolex folks are more about showing off than Patek wearers. I don't think I've ever met anyone in which that is the case (certainly don't see myself that way). I simply find the Rolex more my style.

There is the stereotype that Rolex owners are rich and snobby and showy. That is what I mean that I want to be more under the radar (and out of the stereotype). Most people (aka non WIS) think Rolex is like the top dollar watch. They never heard of AP, Patek, Lange, etc.

Case in point. I was at work and I had my 16610 on. Someone commented on it how it was stupid to buy something so expensive and showy like Rolex (yeah a diver watch). They said I should be more reasonable and wear something like my co-worker. He was wearing an IWC Portuguese 7 day auto.

Having watched a couple of videos on Pateks craftsmanship and complications, I can certain appreciate them but admittably too under the radar for me.

I love both Rolex and Pateks for different reasons. Some Pateks are just works of art. Look at the craftmanship. One day .............

I noticed this as well and have been training myself to say as he does.

It sounds less hoity-toity.

That is the stereotypical perception. I am usually dressed in jeans or running clothes. Plus, my tattoo to tooth ratio is fortunately still favoring teeth. So a lot of people are surprised to notice I'm wearing a Rolex. I am frequently asked why I paid so much for just a watch. I point out that the four wheeler or Ranger they use eight weekends a year while deer hunting costs more than most current watches in the Rolex line up. Just a choice of where to put some discretionary income.

My brother wears a gold PP moon phase on a jubilee-looking bracelet. IDK the ref. I just doesn't speak to me...... Probably because of the shoddy clothes and tattoos.

PPs are really not an option for me due to price. Although I managed to score a decent price on this one -
