Great shot. I like the look of your SS with the sightly faded bezel, which the ceramic will not do. I strongly prefer the vintage pepsi or the BLNR to the new Pepsi (looks common), but that just me.

I believe the blue is the same blue for both the WG Pepsi and BLNR...it just changes colors depending on the light. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this observation.

I would love it if it was the same blue but don't think so. In all photos I have seen of the new BLRO, the blue seems less vibrant and more subtle. I love the blue on the BLNR. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Very glad they kept the blue to same shade as original bakelite bezel on the 6542. Smart move!!

From the pics it looks like the blue in the pepsi is less rich with a darker shade than the BLNR, but I haven't seen them side by side. The BLNR color doesn't work for me, but the pepsi looks good so far

Very nice comparison - certainly highlights the old and the new! Am warming towards the new Pepsi though not to its price!

I like the color on the ceramic bezel but prefer the smaller numbers of the aluminum bezel. As for Rolex releasing a stainless steel version someday why not? People said they would never release the YMII in stainless steel and they did. Some people were ticked after relenting and buying the WG version thinking a SS version would never happen but I doubt Rolex cares about that. It makes sense to sell the Pepsi in WG first to capture sales from those who really want the Pepsi and when sales die down release it in SS. It may take a few years but I wouldn't be surprised at all. The Pepsi is a very popular and iconic model so it doesn't make sense to restrict sales of it long term.

I do think it would be interesting (as another post pointed out) if they offered this WG Pepsi in a Super Jubilee - but I think in the end I'd prefer the Oyster. |

This watch shows Rolex' desperation to sell more precious metal pieces. Maybe that's why they kicked out the CEO. The company was BUILT on stainless and that doofus went "overgold".

I am of a different opinion. Turn over and profit justifies the acts of companies. An SS classic like the GMT, a milestone worldwide, will get the cash every company, even Rolex, will always need. Cash is the KING. I am a lover of the GMT's ( and Subs ) but would NEVER pay the premium of WG, YG or whatever, just to get a watch. My watches shall always be SS, plastic, wood, etc. but no precious metals. I got, pls see signature, WG bezels for wife and daughter, for the ladies blink. And Rolex management team know that. I have been in such shoes for many years. They have to create business, more business and more and more business. And a YG or YG, Platinum can return more profit per piece, but the mass sales of SS's will get the real money. So, their portfolio must have the premiums, which some will buy, ( Leopard Daytona, fully stoned DD's ), but also entry models ( AK ) and middle range SS in "trade mark" watches of their tradition. Also, a in between TT. We shall only wait, and time will show.

BTW, an excellent photo, thanks a lot. I love seeing them both next to each other.

There is nothing to wait for. The SS GMTII has been available for years and years. If you want one it's there !
And just last year the BLNR was introduced giving you the bi-color bezel option. The GMTII line is now complete, and what a great line it is. Something for everybody ! And do you honestly believe there are all these countless people waiting to be able to buy the same SS watch with just an other bezel color ? A handful of diehards maybe. Most will be as content with the LN or BLNR. And it has been said several times already. The red/blue ceramic is difficult to make. They don't just pop out of the ceramic bezel machine. It is a difficult process. Going from ceramic blue to black is already a work of art. Going from red (which in itself is already extremely difficult) to blue is close to magic. And that magic is expensive and time consuming. Hence WG. My opinion.

To all those people saying it won't come in ss you're most likely right. But hey what's from saying they do bring the ss Pepc with a different dial color, white would be nice. Especially seeing a photo of one vintage model someone put up the other day. Than that YM2 thing come into play, because it would deffinently look different and noticeable from a mile away. Maybe a few years till this happens, but hey it might. Do you think the new CEO hasn't heard some trickle of a hint of people wanting it in SS.
As for me I don't care either way. I like the "COKE" version better. I just hope when rolex brings it out it's not in platinum. I'd hate to wait to get that one. But that's what makes this hobby fun saving up and wondering what to do to get that next watch as soon as possible.

Looks great, thanks for the side by side.....Oh what could have been if Rolex hadn't sold its heritage down this "special" river. Sure is pretty, though.

I wouldn't put it past the management to re-introduce a SS version, especially with Dufour who has a proven record as a traditionalist at Zenith (ie getting away from strange designs and returning to the historic roots of the company). But, having said that, it's pretty unlikely for as long as the WG version exists. Steel fans will have to continue enjoy their BLNR as the worthy successor to the Pepsi and Coke.

I hate to say it but I'm loving BLRO. I HAVE A 16700 and 16710 and love them but the BLRO is stunning.
