I currently have a lapis DD and had a platinum DD as well as a gold GMT and a gold sub that was snatched by my wife. There is a def difference when wearing YG vs steel. A lot more looks and people who are not watch aficionados take notice. The heft and warmth of precious metal is nicer than steel. Nevertheless, I think it depends on setting whether it works or not. I am one of the rare wearers of YG where I live. Not many men wear all gold here (NYC) but in Florida plenty do. Something to consider if you don't want attention. WG and PT are far more stealth with the same presence. As far as durability goes...PT obviously is the most while YG hides scratches the most. Good luck.

WG for me is the answer. I have not had any comments on any of my Rolex watches and only 2 when I had on my Breitling. The weight of the WG Sub is great, the uniqueness of the dial makes the watch very special. You won't regret getting one.

Love the feeling of gold. Once you go gold you never go back. It makes you a lot more aware of whats on your wrist and made me alot more cautious

Precious metals have presence unlike Stainless or TT.
The weight is the most significant thing you will notice as the wearer. I chose white gold because of its understated presence. I work retail and i did not care for the attention my TT Daytona gathered. The yellow gold bezel was a magnet for the eyes. I just did not like the attention and it made me self conscious about that watch. My WG Daytona rarely gets noticed by others. I notice it all the time. I will admit that it scratches easier than my stainless watches, but i dont care. Watches are meant to be worn. Minor wear gives it character. My WG Daytona on a hirsch rubber strap. Additionally, Rolex makes the more desirable dial options available in precious metals. |

Paying $8,000 plus for a watch made out of steel is a bit scarry. I've always felt a bit better buying a gold watch even if the price of the gold in the watch doesn't justify the price.

I'm a fan...I echo the other gold wearers' opinions so far.
As far as attention, I do get a few more comments here and there, but I still believe the vast majority of others either don't notice watches or don't feel like commenting for one reason or the other. My experience at least. I only have YG currently, but hopefully a WG piece or two will make its way into my small collection. Enclosing a pic of today's choice for wrist time. It is a big, heavy piece for sure, but once you get used to it, it just does not want to come off. |

Wearing a Rolex is like being in a very exclusive club. Regardless of whether its YG, WG, or SS, usually only other club members will notice you and your watch (unless you're showing off that you have Rolex at the bar).
From our customers we hear that yellow gold does brings more attention to your watch, for better or for worse. If you want the weight and value of gold without the attention then white gold is where its at. However, if the value of gold isn't a factor for you and you don't want to bring too much attention to yourself then SS is the obvious choice. |

My everose daytona doesn't attract very much attention at all. Which I actually like for the most part. I don't feel like I'm walking around with a huge target on my head. I don't want to ever have to use my gun I haven't even gotten a, "hey, nice watch". Something that my stainless sub has gotten me plenty of. It may be my age. Since I'm only 29 and live in Philadelphia most people probably deduce the watch is fake since it's a pretty expensive piece. The everose is also pretty subtle in comparison with yg so it doesn't stick out as much either. I don't know what you're going for but if you're going for subtleness and want gold, everose isn't a bad choice in my personal experience.

Great photos from everybody. My favorite is YG gmt and the smurf. Don't know which one I like more. Don't know if I can sport YG.
