I can imagine this since the lugs are shorter. I haven't seen one in person, but I'm holding off on a subC until I do.

get a deep sea! i love my new sea dweller but i found the DSSD to be too big.
if you think the sd4000 wears to small then a DSSD is an easy choice! what is your wrist size out of interest? |

I had a look at one today and wished they'd made it 42 mm
Sitting next to a Sub C (itself not a big watch) it does appear to be a bit smaller, mainly because of the case shape

Well...I may be sticking with the 16600. I do like everything about it, tho a Matte dial might be nice!

I thought that too and that's why many of us wanted a 42mm with the slimmer lugs.

I for one am very happy it wears smaller. My old SD was such a nice package, it's only negative was it lacked a maxi dial. Now with the SDc the problem is solved plus I feel the case looks more handsome and a matte dial to boot. Could've had a dome but you can't get everything and this separates it more clearly from the Deepsea. With the exception of my Deepsea I'm all for smaller watches. Right on. |

The bezel size and the dial is the same as the submariner as I put the new seadweller bezel cover on the submariner ceramic ad it fits the same as the new seadweller but when I tried on the old seadweller it was way too loose .

[QUOTE=Rashid.bk;4928440]You know, that's sort of the legacy of the SD. It had a smaller dial than the Sub but fatter bezel so it always wore kinda of "small" visually even though it was the same size.
So it looks like this new SDc continues that legacy. I like that it wears small, unfortunately it doesn't move me more than my Deepsea so I don't think I'll be getting it like I initially thought. + 1

I was at the Rolex AD today....he kept trying to convince me the DSSD was the new Seadweller.....it does say Seadweller on it I guess.
Oh well. Regards. |

I personally am thrilled to hear it fits like a Rolex should with an improved bezel insert. Sounds like a winner to me. I'm not a fan of Invicta-sized Rolexes. I do love their vintage watches however and this seems to be close. I might actually consider this for filling my empty SD slot.

I frankly don't see how anyone can judge a watch simply by looking at a picture…???

SD and SubC both are 40mm. How could they be drastically different?
A slight difference in visual perception is possible due to width and thickness proportion, and for that small difference I wouldn't call it "a massive disappointment". I haven't see it in person, but I would walk in with the expectation that it is a 40mm watch (not 43mm) and I don't anticipate being massively surprised. Cheers |

Me too... but im not "massive disappointment"....
I just prefer subc..... Its cheaper... I like the smooth bezel without the minute markers... I have a small wrist... i like it flat and low sitting on my wrist... But the new SD is a nice watch nevertheless... |

Just because you didn't like it, it is a "massive disappointment"???!!!
The Sea-Dweller has never been every people's watch. That is the spot for the Submariner. Personally I think it will be THE Rolex watch for me, it suspect it will retire both the DSSD and the 114060 for me. |

Now i've had a bit more time to reflect i think i can summarise my thoughts as follows:
So things I liked: 1. Matt Dial 2. No Cyclops 3. Tapered Lugs (better than the sub imho) Things that swayed me to leave the deal: 1. Second markers (i thought i 'd like this feature but it took away from the "sunburst" light reflections) 2. Shorter lugs: Although i like the profile of the lugs they look significantly shorter than the sub 3. Diver extension is petruding at the tightest setting (bit of an OCD point) but it bothers me and i wouldn't want to take it out. 4. Height of the case and weight made it feel a bit unbalanced (like a mini DSSD) - sub felt more comfortable. Final thought - overall it just felt really small and i really wish i loved it but it just didn't work for me. Nice to have another option in the diver range though. Massive disappointment because i have been looking forward to a normal size sea dweller since the release of the deep sea. |

SD has always been different than the Sub. In the past aside from the movement they shared two parts.

My AD called me today call in its here .. No rush at £6900 .. Already have the SD, sub, do I really want another black dial? .. I said I'll wait until the holiday weekend and pop in to try it, No rush from anyone at the moment, they even called me last week , SS Daytona that they couldn't shift?..... Still in recession here in the U.K Even the big cash boys not spending ...no one splashing out on new watches!!!... Market has slowed right down, the Chinese not splashing the cash either , making all these desirable watches more available across the globe...

Yes. The SD4000 wears much smaller than the SubC. Also, the minute markers are bothering me much more than I thought. It is smaller and sits higher on the wrist. More like a puck. I did not like the feeling.
I am sure lots of people will love it though. I got the call yesterday afternoon. I rushed in with the cash and ready... but came out empty handed. Went back around to try it again and still I don't like it as much as the Sub. I am a bit disappointed. It looks much much better in pics IMHO.
