I haven't seen a Rolex in south Austin's Costco, either. I can't help looking at the watches every time I shop there. Costco wisely puts the display case at the first corner you come to as you walk in the store. They also display the most expensive watches on one end, so you can assess their inventory in 30 seconds.

This is great! We can now buy SkyDweller's at the same place we buy toilet tissue! SIGH!

The one on blossom hill had some nice Cartier watches...and of course many Breitlings. Sorry no Rolex....but if they did they'd get snatched up quick. Every once in awhile I'll see them on the women's side.

Forgive me for not having per-searched the forums (perhaps someone can point me directly with ease),... but buying "grey" (whether from a non-authorized, respected dealer who gets his hands on unsold stock, buying online or from Costco for that matter), what - in essence - are you not getting when buying from an AD?

Everything except for a standard warranty?? In other words, you get a ±10% discount but lack the assurance that you're covered from defects?

Thanks (new to the game here)...

Bought a pam 233 3 years ago and had warranty . No issues with the watch. You have to realize that these things happen. Everyone trying to make a buck.

Is it covered by the costco 1 year warranty? Return it in under a year and get your money back.

Actually on watches & jewelry it's a LIFETIME warranty. You can take it back years later with no box and they'll give you a full refund. They don't ever exchange, just refunds!

Costco warranties so Costco sends the watch to the backroom for this guy to look at.

I found a platinum Day Date II at my local Costco but just couldn't really trust buying a rolex from them. But at least I know another place that sells them

Are you having a go ?

In that case, why don't these get snatched up immediately?

In Massachusetts ...

In Massachusetts there was a [now defunct] discount store chain called "Building 19 [plus a random fraction]". In 1974, they advertised the remains from a fire sale:

A jewelry store in Philadelphia had had a fire. Multiple very high end watches had smoke damage on the boxes, but the included merchandise was intact and without damage.

I went down to see what they had. THey only allowed one watch out of the case at a time. The fellow ahead of me was trying out a blue linen Rolex date. "No," he said, "I promised myself a gold watch." [we were still on the gold standard at that time.] I asked to look at the Rolex, which was a brand that I, as a random 23 year old, had never heard of.

I asked them to put the Rolex aside. I drove home like a maniac, got my checkbook, and bought it for half its original MSRP of $350 (this was 1974).
Imagine: BNIB with papers Rolex Date for $175.

Several crystals (that nasty acrylic) and bracelets (oyster gave way to jubilee with ROUND links gave way to jubilee with FLAT links, on the inside), and face cleanings and re-gluing of the crown ...

In 2010 I was admitted to the hospital emergently with a fractured, septic hip. During my three months in hospital / rehab, my sister had my house "cleaned." My Rolex went - well, who knows where.

The Rolex 1501 Date, blue linen dial, "engine turned" bezel, oyster bracelet is vanishingly rare. The only one currently on the market is in Hong Kong, and we've discussed it. Sigh.

Any leads would be appreciated!
