That's a great shop in a beautiful location. Agreed that the staff are quite good as well.

Prices reflect the location, but hey, that's the way it is.

Anybody that has seen the movie "The Great Escape" will understand how cool Steve McQueen was. He did his own stunts on the German motorcycle he took.

If you have not seen that movie I highly recommend it. You will become an instant Steve McQueen fan.

I stand corrected. Hollywood stuntman Bud Ekins did the famous jump scene. Steve McQueen did the majority of the motorcycle riding.

Great interview here.

Great pictures from a great trip! I tried to buy a
1016 from them a few years ago. The one I wanted was sold, but got the opportunity to talk to Michael about it over the phone. A great guy and gentleman in every sense. Thanks for sharing!

A few months ago, there was a U.K. television programme
discussing the Jump made in the film. Yes, the jump in the
film was made by Bud, however after the days filming,
McQueen and a couple of other cast members went back out
in the evening, and McQueen made the jump to prove to
the others that he could have done it.

We are hitting Carmel as a possible retirement location. I will definitely put this AD on the list. Thanks for the article.

Fourtane's is a joy and a great resource. I just stumbled in one day to drool on the cases and lo and behold, my grail, a 1680/8 in minty condition was just sitting there. I just could not walk away as we always say 1) buy the seller and 2) condition, condition, condition

and then my wife walked in and she fell in love:

and up to this point, she was on the sidelines as far as Rolexes go. A great day for the wrist, not especially good for the wallet!

Fourtane's is a definitely a destination for WISes if they are in the Bay Area.

That's a beautiful piece. All of the vintage watches Fourtane has in stock are in this condition. I'm glad I didn't find my 1680 red sub yesterday as my pocketbook would be hurting :).

I was just there a few weeks ago...easily spent an hour. They are open to chatting with collectors. I caught a few pics of some of the pieces as well...such a cool place and cool staff.
