Another vote for you Frostie. There is something to be said for one life, one Rolex and make it work for it's money.

I agree! The "bark" is an awesome finish! What a pity that Rolex discontinued it.

I think its definitely an expensive hobby. Once you own your first rolex and get involved with this FORUM, it makes you want to get another! I don't think there is just one rolex out there that you can wear for all occasions. Thus, you start thinking of another model. I personally must admit that I like more than 1. I have a GMT MASTER II (PEPSI) that I received as a gift 5yrs ago (Dec 2003) and bought my 1st (LV SUB) this past year. Even with 2, I'm still interested in a couple other models. Now what it usually comes down to is whether or not you have the $$ to afford another. Of course, family, wife, and bills come 1st. But hey, if you have the money to afford another, then why not. An expensive hobby! Just don't be one of those guys that puts in on your credit card and make payments. I'm saving up $$ right now for my next one. What will it be? Don't know yet. But I have a few in mind =-). Now with the recent price increase. It'll look like probably 2009 or 2010 before it happens. But I'm a rolex enthusiast. Like the rest of the TRF'ers here. And it will definitely be worth the wait when it happens. It'll make it that much sweeter once I do buy it. That's my 2 cents! Wear your rollie proud!

Agree that the "bark" finish is superb. I guess it just fell out of favor. All the better for me!

Well, when I think of it, you cannot really get more a more versatile collection than that!
SD: Date, steel 904L, no cyclops, matte OYSTER bracelet (matte bracelet), black dial, turnable bracelet, black dial (only comes with black dial), different hands, Triplock crown, special case making it WR to 1,220 metres. DD: in your case (sorry for the pun) YG, date with cyclops, PRESIDENT bracelet (matte/polished) - very different bracelet altogether; fluted YG non turnable bezel, non-black dial (although availible for the DD), Twinlock crown and therefore WR to 100 metres.

There are so many different designs and styles, for different moods, situations, times of day etc. Most "first world" people have more than one pair of shoes, why not several watches. There are alot worse things one can do with money. Sure there are probably alot more noble things people can do with their money too.
For me it has nothing to do with Rolex marketing, I don't read magazines that have Rolex ads. Greed isn't it either, greed is something else- it's taking advantage of something monetarily and buying more Rolex watches is not that. It's just a nice hobby-pastime for me and I'm sure many others here too.

Allan, that's a beautiful collection. I have the first two in your pictures: the TT DJ and the recently purchased TT Sub and I think that will hold me for a while.

Another reason: I never want to be without a Rolex. So if one is being serviced...
When I have my brother's serviced, I will loan him Expy2. He is also someone who should never be without a Rolex.

I thought 2 would be enough but I kept finding great deals on Rollies and now I'm up to 5. I do have a sickness and I hope there's never a cure LOL.

The reason why one Rolex is not enough for me is because I really love the look of the other styles as well. I always wanted to have a Rolex for every occasion.
In the end, I would feel content if all I had was a small collection of all Rolex, who needs another brand? Well, I really love my Longines too.

I have one Rolex Datejust & one Omega Seamaster. Let's not count the Omega - what do you think should be my next Rolex? I am thinking about a classic black Submariner (date - I just adore Cyclops). But I also like LV Sub, a Pepsi GMT or a bi-metal Sub/GMT....

I would get a Pepsi GMT, Minas!
That would really be a different watch to set if off against the others, and you get great versatility with this models since you can change bezel or even buy a Jubilee bracelet for it.

Thanks for answering; do you know if it is easy to change bezels myself (and where I can get such tools) or is it necessary to take it to the shop? And the same applies to changing bracelets - especially with the new Rolexes that don't have anymore the holes visible on the lower sides of the case? Tnx, Minas
