Thanks mate - I have a pretty steady hand, and it was fine. I enjoyed seeing the dial like that. I did a bit of work on watches a few years ago, but nothing too involved.

I have never taken the case-back off any of my Rolex watches, but other makes, I have.

Hi, and thank you my friend!

No trouble with crystal, and no glue present! No glue will be used; my watch-maker will be installing the crystal and pressure-testing in due course.

Video scared the heck out of me. I still cringe when I take off the band and pray springbars don't scratch or gouge lugs.

Here's my mark IV macro again. Call me sacrilegious, but sapphire crystal would to better justice to that beautiful matte dial.

It's crazy how much thicker the plots look without the plexi. Very cool

Yes, I noticed that - they look much flatter under the plexi

I decided against the dome in the end, and went with the T-127. Maybe the slight purist tendencies in me held me back from the dome, so sorry to disappoint...

I do love the dome crystals, and part of me wanted to go for it, but maybe I'll wait and get one on a 1665 one day instead! I think if I had tried the dome on the 1680, it would not have been for long anyway, and I'm glad to have new top-hat crystals on both my vintage subs, and of course pressure-tested/passed. It was still good to see the dial like that anyway.
