No reason for me, just a desire and having the money at the time to do so. Technically it all started the collecting thing when my wife wanted me to get a watch for my 40th.

Great collection! You have some very loving relationships!

Now, you just need that Daytona ...

My Precious: Blue Linen Date in 1974. It was half price (insurance settlement), $175 (down from $350) and I was making $12,000 a year.

April 4, 2014: I joined a gym. I also bought a champagne Datejust 36mm. It's my drag watch. Both of which were great decisions.

June 2, 2014: Got an Explorer I 39mm. I decided I needed a "daily wearer". Took me forever to figure out the bracelet.

I'm waiting for the occasions to get:
(1) Some sort of diving watch (Submariner or DSSD);
(2) Daytona (I like the two-tone that has gold as the chapter rings on the sub dials);
(3) Day-Date;
(4) Replace my Precious.
(5) The New Pepsi that's come out in Ceramic, but it costs a mint and a half (ca. $45,000).

When it's time to move on from a relationship, it's time to move on.
Great that you had a good time celebrating!

My GMT Pepsi 1991 was bought as my remembrance from the Gulf War

My Sea-Dweller was from my wife as a 10 year anniversary gift.

All my other watch were bought for no reason in particular.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean for the first time I was promoted a manager in 2006.
DJ II TT for my 30th. Birthday in 2009.
Panerai 00380 with no reason.
GMT II Black/Blue celebrating the first finished project of the company I created with my wife. She also got a DJ TT. It was good for both of us. :)

I'm looking for the next excuse to celebrate.

Celebrated my 22nd birthday and at the same time I congratulated myself for all the hard work in China for over a year and happy with the success I have made.

Although, I bought with the intention of always being able to sell it. Like an investment I can enjoy a lot.
But dunno if I will be able to part with it any time...
Rolex 16713 by BadkarsPiraten, on Flickr

Being 22 years old and able to just buy something like this without even thinking for long about it is just... Awesome.
I thought about for a few hours after I initially got the TT Rolex idea in my head and then I said "Fuck it, wont hurt my economy". Best descision ever.

Bought my SD16600 with part of a 5 figure bonus I got for saving the govt millions, then sold it when the company laid me off 5 years later.

Picked up my first, my 14060M, to mark a milestone birthday five years ago, my SS Daytona when I graduated law school, and picked up my TT GMTii-C to celebrate learning I passed the bar exam last month (which I found out on my birthday). The others I have owned did not mark occasions or achievements. I love them anyways, but there are a few that are special in my book.

Bought the blue YM just because. I actually had a special occasion in mind, the completion of a project I'm working on. But, that's looking like it's further and further away, so I'm glad I bought the watch when I could.

Hopefully I can pick up a 16710 sometime, special occasion being "have obtained permission from wife".

And possibly a YG GMT II when I turn 40 in a few years.

For me, PAM 328 as an engagement gift from my wife and Rolex Explorer as a wedding gift. The rest have been for less meaningful reasons
