Good luck.
Voice of reason. My wife is more social than active (other than walking every day) so would guess she would like more 'bling' than 'tool' look. We also live by the water and spend social time at various marinas and yacht clubs. By my asking the question of these forums have now brought into consideration for her:
  • YM MOP
  • Daytona MOP
  • DJ MOP

My gut says she will like them in this order. We'll see how it plays out. I'm not quite ready to make the purchase as I'm still licking the wounds and building up my watch reserves from my BLNR acquisition. I funded that by liquidating (most of) my camera hobby. Not sure I have any other hobbies to liquidate for her, likely have to do it the old fashioned way and save for a while. This thread has given me a ballpark how much I will need to save before I unleash her.

When my wife started this kind of discussion with me I bought her a tennis bracelet instead. When I began to ask her why a rolex and it wasn't the watch itself, she just was asking for a quid pro quo. Saved 3K and truth be told she wanted the diamonds more than she wanted to tell time!

Good Luck! Even when I take the Mrs. to the AD to look at watches she will like one, buy it and then not like it. Go figure...

Hey Tom, you forgot the prettiest (and latest) of the collection. And to me the one that suits your nice lady best.

Let her pick the one that sings to her at an AD. I'd start with the white dial SS Daytona, and go from there. If she finds it too large, have her try on the OP and some DJ variants. If she feels it's a bit too shiny or not large enough, then have her try on the Sub-C and Exp II. It will boil down pretty quickly which model was made for her.

My wife was certain she didn't want a Rolex ... until we were at the AD one day a couple years ago. Then she spotted a 36 mm RG/SS DJ with dark MOP diamond dial and smooth bezel. She's been wearing that DJ ever since. She loves that dial and receives a lot of compliments on it from other women.

She is trim figured but tall at 5'9" so a bigger watch works on her. Years ago she wore men's watches but for the last decade has collected an assortment of Michele and Coach quartz watches... but is now ready for a real watch.

What are some Rolex watch styles I should consider parading in front of her... nothing too extravagant (I already have designs on a second for myself!)?
Sounds like a DJII or Daytona would be perfect. Even the DJ 36mm should be considered.

Update: At dinner tonight my wife mentioned that if she was going to get a Rolex it was going to be for nice occasions going out... But she said she had to check them all out in person to make up her mind... Smart lady... DJ 36mm may have just pulled into the lead.
