I don't recall the details now, but the Note isn't just a big Galaxy and it seems that the Note has features I don't need whereas the Galaxies have features I like better.

Also, in the past the Note has had the same screen resolution of the Galaxies, but that resolution is diminished by the larger screen and that resolution is optimal on the smaller Galaxy screen.

At any rate, I will have plenty of time to make comparisons and get the one that best fits my needs.

Price is also a consideration, not because the price of the Note breaks the bank, but the Galaxies have offered the best value, in my judgement.
Get the new Galaxy S5 Prime if they sell them in the USA Grady.

Great specs. I wish that they would have improved the camera (OIS is a must).

That's interesting. I just read about the Prime this afternoon, but there didn't seem to be any substantive data on it as yet or even a release date.

It's certainly worth a shot and with new phones coming down the pike, it does seem preferable to put the new purchase on the back burner for awhile to see what the next big things are going to be.

I absolutely hate cell phones with large screens but I admit they're a lot better for viewing tho a hassle when in pants pocket. I am due for an update and I am looking a the Samsung GS5 and the HTC One M8....gotta check them out in person at the Tmo store before I decide which to buy.

I like to be able to dictate text messages (very important to me) and have the speaker phone feature.

The Note 4 is also highly recommended.

I think the Note has everything that the Galaxy does AND more. The Note 4 is rumored to have a QHD screen (like the new LG G3) so the resolution will be out of this world.

the s5 was an upgrade from an s3, if i had it to do over again, it would be the note 3.

batt life on the s5 has doubled & it is quite a bit quicker than the s3.

I prefer a larger screen for my old eyes and find surfing the web and using Tapatalk a much more enjoyable experience with one, this doesn't always mean an overly large phone, here is my Samsung Galaxy S3 underneath an iPhone 5, the difference in size on the phones is negligible, however the screen size difference is huge.

I just dumped my iPhone 5 was getting totally bored with the IOS my buddy got the Nokia 1520 windows 8 phone its got a 6" screen its about the size of the note3 only much thinner I was very hesitant about the large phone I've had it a week I carry in my pocket no problem and really love it so far. My wifes iPhone now seems miniscule lol.

Note 3 here and like the bigger screen. Would go back to iPhone if they make a 5.5 inch screen.

I don't like Touchwiz but use Nova prime, I did have the Google experience launcher side loaded but lost it when I restored my phone for some reason, I can't find the apk (The site I used before doesn't have it any more) to re install it either which is a shame because I enjoyed using it.

I definitely don't need two phones Wes and will sell one, ATM I can't make up my mind and don't want to regret my decision. The GPE versions aren't available in the UK or I would have one in a shot. My friend has a Note 3 and swears by it, I have had a mess with it and am very impressed, the Note 4 will be very interesting. The LG G3 is stunning.

I could also be tempted back to the iPhone now that it has the larger screen, Swype type keyboards, the only app I would miss is swypepad and it would irritate me when I can't hide apps from the home screen that I don't use (Stocks, books, game centre etc) I know I could put them in a folder and put them on an empty home screen but it would still annoy me.

I think you should wait until the new phones are released. That's what I'm doing. I'm in no hurry. I want to make the right choice.

I have to admit that I like my SIII and there is no pressing need to buy new at this time.

Waiting does seem to be the best alternative.

The S5 would be a huge upgrade, but at this point, I'd wait for the next generation.

I try to upgrade every other year (sometimes, every year). I have always had good luck selling my phones which allows me to upgrade at no cost.

I can upgrade each year, my wife and me have contracts each a year apart, Carole only uses hers to text and phone (strange I know) and likes her basic Nokia that she has had for years which allows me to take advantage of her upgrade every two years. I sell my used phones and because they are only a year old and more often than not a flagship device, I get a good price.

I have HTC one and iPhone 5. I prefer the iPhone size because I can hold it in one hand and type or surf the internet while the HTC is too much of a stretch sometimes.

Have had a Note 2 for 18 months now and love it. With a custom keyboard typing on it is as easy as it was on a blackberry with far better autocorrection. I have also pretty much totally abandoned my iPad as I can comfortably watch any video content on the Note 2 (I watched the Brazil PKs yesterday while at the park).

You get used to the size..fits well in either jeans pocket or a suit jacket pocket. I will bet in 2-3 years most people will be using 5+ inch screens.

The early specs on the Note 4 look very interesting. I hate that Samsung has put so much into locking the new phones down though...I like to root and flash ROMs to get things exactly as I like them but I will likely upgrade when it gests released. The bounty on cracking the bootloader on the S5 was $18K last i checked and no one has been able to pull it off yet.

The pen is also a great feature...I have stopped carrying a notepad to business meetings as the handwriting works that well.

From my Note 2 running AllianceROM 25

I have a Galaxy Note 3 also and in the first few days I was like "it's way to big" and after a few weeks it's the only size phone I would own. Everything about it is amazing and the larger screen size is fantastic.

I pretty much have one of each, from the small iPhone 5S to the slightly larger Moto X at 4.7, LG G2 at 5.1, Galaxy S5 at 5.2, Note 3 at 5.7, Lumia 1520 and LG Flex at an even 6, and the Galaxy Mega at 6.25.

The phones I use the most are the iPhone 5S and Lumia 1520.

I have an HTC 1. I love a bigger phone, but nowadays most of them are big. My mom has the LG Flex, which I really like. Excited for the iPhone XL

I have the samsung galaxy s4 and my wife has the iphone 5. I prefer the s4 for browsing the net, reading kindle and pretty much everything else. For pictures and videos, I would have to hand it to the iphone. Or probably my wife is just better in taking pictures and videos. lol. I'm waiting for the iphone 6 though. If it gets a big screen, I just might switch.

The plug may be a UK three pin, but I am certain the electronics won't be approved to an EU standard...

There are enough incidence of after market chargers catching fire that to save a few quid the risk/reward is not worth it to me. An S3/S4 used would probably cost an extra £100 or so, or like I said, a brand new UK sourced Motorola E or G is the same price.
But my phone is a brand name THL although not ready known in the western world they produce some real good products.Would agree the case and purely cosmetic look may not equal say the Iphone but the components inside will match, and with my phone exceed the Iphone and many other main brands.Yes there have been reports of some of these items you buy from say market stalls catching fire. But so have there been many recalls for main brand electrical goods that caused fires etc.Now China is one of the biggest market for these phones, and I am sure if there was a problem with these brand name Chinese phones they would not be sold.I cannot fault this phone in any way, the charger is made by Salcom and has all the the EU standard marks because they are the biggest manufacture of chargers for most all phones made in the world today including the major brands its a huge company. And the Samsung S4 new is over £300 and its not so well spec wise as my Chinese phone.

I really love the size of my iphone 5... fits perfectly in my pocket and hand. I've used a droid for a very brief period, and I can tell you that the size killed it for me. I thought it would be the opposite since it's a much larger screen, but the bulk of the phone isn't worth the tradeoff. I really hope Apple still offers a smaller phone as an option to the rumored bigger screened phone.
