Yeah the Unico is a nice piece. I wouldn't mind the King Gold but for that much money would always go AP.

Not really true. AP ( RO and ROOs ) definitely holds better value than Hublot. Bacheron, Breguet, JLC I will agree. The Milenary is a fringe model and you can't use that as a yardstick. RM resale value has improve by a lot recently due to limited supply. Hublot can tank by as much as 60% depending on model, putting them in the same range as Baume & Mercier, Bulgari etc.. Getting a good discount is crucial if one buys a Hublot. It is not difficult to find them in AD discounting for 30% and up.

Taste changes with age and over time. Nobody can say for sure what you like now you will still love in future. That's why there are so many pre-own timepiece on the market.

DreambreaX, why do you keep refusing to post pictures of these watches you claim to own, specifically the AP FC?

Also it's rather disingenuous of you to cite the Milenary, a far less popular model then the royal oak that myself and others are referring to here, and which is far more along the lines appearance wise of a Hublot (which is namely because Hublot shamelessly copies it).

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Hublot does have some nice watches but most of them are just overhyped fashion watches for rappers.

Nice collection. I like the idea of adding diversity to it, but would go the AP route over Hubolt.

I've asked him no fewer than seven times to post a pic of this AP FC Diver he claims to have and dislike and is always bagging on in the AP forum (because, you know, he's such a baller that he'll go drop 27 large on a watch that he hasn't bothered to determine whether or not he likes before buying it ).

He finds plenty of time to post pictures he snags off of other sites, stock photos etc, but none to post the ones he says he owns.

Case in point: the Hublot pics in this thread. He says he owns one, why not post pics of it rather than go to the trouble of going to not one, not two, but three different sites to round up pictures of a model; the Hublot pics came from these three sites:
1. ablogtowatch.com
2. hauteliving.com
3. watchprosite.com

I looked through his posting history when it became pretty apparent that he's a poseur and a troll. Hundreds of pictures of watches, all from other websites, but not once, ever, has he posted a pic of any of his (supposed) own watches. And yet in one post he claimed to own a whole slew of pricey pieces, which apparently he doesn't want anyone other than him to see!

Absent pics, those claims are nothing but a big steaming pile of in my book. What a joke....

There are about 100 things I would rather do with the price of the watches with the unico movements. Even with a discount they would never crack my top ten watches for that price range. JMHO

Hublot makes great watches. But for the price, I would prefer a little more history in watch making. That's why I would go with AP, JLC, etc.

Buy what you like, though I echo comments re. history and the real thing. I would go AP any day and twice on Sundays.

Writing AP and Hublot in the same sentence feels disrespectful ... almost like I have to go wash my hands ...

It seems you ask me for many many times.

About the AP FC, I regret having my fc diver. I regret it why do I have to buy and follow other people with forge carbon material.

I prefer to have another GOLD Rolex, Hublot Breguet or the prestige RICHARD MILLE, with precious metal. Soon I wanna sell my fc diver.

Yes, I ask you for many many times, because I believe you to be a poseur and a troll, and that you don't actually own this watch, nor in all likelihood any of the others you claim to own. Fair enough? If not, feel free to prove me wrong by actually posting pictures of YOUR watches, not other people's pics you vacuum off the Intenet.

From this sentence I can see you are emotional and "negative thinking" type of person.

Im writing this with peace. Even i dont agree with your post I dont say you a troll either. Learn to love and respect other.

I prove you wrong by showing my fc diver, after that what would i get? nothing. just my ego that i actually win? this is not what i want. unless you give me 5000 dollars i will post my fc diver now along with my serial and boxes.

Everyone has their opinion, learn to love and respect other.

So prove me wrong then. I'm certainly not alone in this opinion of you. You're obviously quite familiar with the process of posting other people's photographs, why not post up some of your own?

If you like it get it.

On another note: I don't get why you can't post pictures of watches you don't own. Live your own life and the rest will fall into place.

Buy whatever you like, but buy it for the right reason, if you want to get attention and a flashy big watch that's is nicely made with interesting use of material then go for it. But for heritage, prestige, future potential and design that can endure the test of time, get a rolex or AP instead.

To me, the Hublot Big Bang watches look like someone bought an AP ROO, then had it modified on the show "Pimp my watch".

Well I also prefer AP but if you like Hublot, why not?
They do offer a design that is unique to Hublot.

opinions on Hublot watches over Rolexes

I can appreciate Hublot and own a ceramic Big Bang myself with great results (the damn thing cannot be scratched and it's my goto knock around watch ).

I'll admit Hublot does not possess the lineage of say Rolex, or AP, but they have impacted the direction of haute horology in several instances over the years - pioneering the use of the rubber strap on luxury watches, influencing the use of exotic elements in case design (even inventing scratch resistant gold alloy, a significant achievement worth mentioning).

I think the criticism levied against the brands HBB price point is fair taking into account it's use if the Valjoux 7750 ebauche, at $15k one might expect a completely in-house timepiece. It's obvious JCB feels this pressure as the higher end Hublot's now come with in-house movements.

Long story short, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I owned an AP Safari for a time and was the first to criticize the HBB line in similar conversation. I guess they just sort of grew on me over time and with repeated exposure.

I will say my HBB is far more comfortable than my ROO ever was. The watch head being more evenly balanced atop the wrist and the strap thinner, softer and more form fitting. I won't even compare clasps as we all know AP was out to lunch when the ROO clasp was designed - which is why they have moved to the tang buckle in their latest models...

I think a HBB will hold it's value (for the foreseeable future) and is a nice piece to have in any collection. Plus it's a great conversation piece bc at any moment a WIS may approach you and ask, "Why the hell did you buy that monstrosity, sir?"

Good luck, let us know how you end up.

A few corrections:

1. Rubber straps were first introduced on luxury watches in the 1960's, google "tropical straps". Rolexes had them decades before Hoblot even existed.

2. Rado released full ceramic watches well before Hublot existed.
