I felt the same way until I saw a RO in real life, then I owned one within a few weeks. Amazing amount of hand performed craftsmanship goes into these watches , unlike the machine work done on most modern watches.

Exclude the overwhelming seller that is all variant DJ we are left with 400,000 watches.

This covers all versions of Sub/SD, GMTc, Daydate I/II, Explorer, Milgauss, Yachtmasters, Skydwellers and the entire Cellini line.

We've crunched the numbers on several occasions over the years and the 116520 SS Daytona comes in at around 8-10,000. The ubiquitous SS Subdate would be 30-40,000.

Rolex has a fairly wide model range so individual models can easily fall in the sub-10,000 sales p.a.

I reckon the "Platona" sales to be in the 3-4,000 volume.

Lower than the SS, version, TT version and the WG / YG / RG variants.

No fact as such, just logic and reason.

You totally missed the point! Rolex's production of just one model probably exceeds all of AP's production. That was my point. OK, all of the Daytona's made last year. Does that put the number more into perspective? I'm not bashing Rolex! I've had three in the last year and I will probably have more again. I'm currently looking for a 218239.

Some people can't help themselves and have troll like nature. It is fine not to like a watch as there are many I don't care for. It is another to insult people and troll in sub forums when you clearly have nothing nice to say. That is the difference between class and tact and those lacking.

Here's the one thing I know "Mr.Bond", you have consistently come to the AP Forum to add zero value, and then insult the brand, and in many cases members. Might I suggest you stick in the forum you prefer, because this forum has zero interest in you.

I loved both Rolex & AP and I have both! However, both are in different class! Many have been said and I will not mention more! "Good-looking" or not, is not up to you to decide! Only the watch owner decide!

If you're curious about AP - or any other top quality watch brand like Breguet, Lange, JLC, Journe, Patek, Vacheron, etc. then it's worth doing some homework on some of the specialist sites dedicated to those brands and learning what makes them so special.

Ignore the naysayers until you've satisfied your curiosity by actually seeing those watches close up and handling them. Then decide. If you still can't value what they offer, then you've saved yourself a bundle of cash and can happily continue with Rolex.
