There is nothing to fix. The crown should only be finger tight.
In real life each crown may face a different direction. |

So why did you spend close to $10k for a watch whose crown did not line up? :) I agree that aesthetically the crown would look better 180 degrees around. Functionally I accept it lands where the thread ends. I suspect it would be a $20k watch if Rolex had to research and develop machinery that would give them perfectly aligned crowns every time. I, for one, appreciate the human touch of imperfection (even if it was assembled by a robot). |

Don't listen to these other guys, I have just the precision tool needed to get your crown to line up properly.

It would appear the OP is looking for feedback regarding this matter. What seems trivial to most, may not be for some. To each their own. This crown issue does not personally bother me, but it would be nice if it could line up, but obviously it is a big deal to the OP and he has a right to express this.

Bought the same watch last week. The crown is off a little but the kicker for me was waiting for an extra link. Wanted to wear it at the poker table in a casino I was in Sat-Tues....called the AD and the link should be in tomorrow.

That said, and I'm no watchmaker, but perhaps a watchmaker can adjust it by installing the tube in such a way that the crown stops face up. I know when I sent my Sub in for service it did not align that way but when I got it back it did. I'll have to ask him if he intentionally performed this alignment. In any event I'd assume even if it's perfect it's only temporary since over time with wear the crown position will probably move a little anyway. You can always back it out a half turn. Unless you go anywhere near the 100m WR it should be just fine in normal use. Put it this way, you should be able to wash your hands.

Wait until it's badly scuffed, or worse yet, dropped and broken....At that point you'll wish the only thing that was "wrong" with your watch was that the winding crown didn't line up just perfectly.

The crown on my GMT II-C lines up perfectly but none my others do. Pure chance I think.
In fact, the great Bob Ridley doesn't even try to do it. He replaced the crown and tube on my red sub and when I asked him about lining it up he basically said that's not a consideration. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |

Neither my Rolex, Breitling, or Omega line up... It bothered me at first, but it really is a small detail. Just food for thought.

This is mines fully tightened, slightly loose I could have it straight but it doesn't bother me as I never see the crown unless I take it off

All of the Breitlings I have owned though had the B on the crown perfectly upright. It seems possible to do, but not a detail that Rolex seems to care about unless it is for a picture in their advertisements. |

Fortunately for me this is not a point of concern, but this seems to be a detail that much less expensive timepieces seem capable of. |

Funny... My very first Rolex, the BLNR is perfectly aligned facing up. I don't think even I could do better ! Sweet Coincidence !
By the way, my Omega Seamaster 300M is also aligned !

The crown on my new Sub points down. I fiddled with it for a few minutes when I first brought it home, trying to get it to point up. I thought it would bother me; now, I don't care. It's such a trivial detail.

My DJII is almost perfectly right side up. I'll admit that it would probably bother me a bit if it wasn't, but I don't think it would be enough for me to pay anyone to try to "fix" it. But the OP is certainly entitled to be of the opinion that it should be right side up.

I too am disappointed that Rolex didn't take care of this design detail. They can at least make the crown point somewhat upward instead of anywhere. So I tell myself, this is why Rolex sport watch is least expensive among elite brands like Patek or even AP. There is always something better to look forward to.

They should make the crown a 2 part piece, sort of like the principal of spinners on wheels you see on cars. That will allow you to set the emblem in any which way you want.

Why does Rolex have a perfect crown on all their advertisements then?

Mine also faced down, exactly the same as this. It really bothers me in the first couple of days trying to do something abt it. But then found out the crown could point to any position as long as its tightly screwed in and you can comfortable go swimming with it.
So just enjoy your Rolex and forget about that. |
