That is normal.. insurance companies want appraisals from jewelers. My watchmaker/jeweler always includes an appraisal of the watches that I buy. I email this to my insurance agent and boom, covered!

Yes on rolex's and omega.. I have done it per my agents directions. Yes and it was a non A.D. They happen to be known jewellers for decades and have a Rolex parts account but I am not sure that is pertinent.
The agent who I have discussed at length about proper accepted appraisals, how much to insure for etc etc, has always accepted the appraisals and lists each watch on my policy separately including how much each are insured for.

Something just doesn't seem right here. Many gen rolexs have some aftermarket parts. Maybe an insert, or a crystal, or maybe a crown. But the rolex service center in Dallas said it was a fake case, and they didn't keep it? I don't know why they would return that to you, unless the case was sterile, then your papers would be fake. Good luck

They cannot keep it. Fake or not, it is not their property and they are not a law enforcement agency. They will always return fakes, but with a statement on the service receipt that it is "not genuine".

To the people wondering if the movement is genuine, why they only mention the case, bezel, and clasp - once they determined from a visual inspection that the case is not genuine, the service center will not touch it. They will not have opened it.

They will always return fakes? May I ask what's your source for that info? Rolex USA can even legally confiscate REAL Rolexes when imported into the US for trademark violation, so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me that they couldn't confiscate fakes.

No they can't.

When imports violate customs treaties and/or intellectual property law, Rolex may ask CBC (or other law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction) to confiscate watches (actions that you may appeal before a court or administrative board), but they are not a law enforcement agency and they may NOT confiscate private property.

At least in the United States that is the law.

How about showing us a picture of the papers that you got when you purchased it. You can black out any private info.

google the serial number on your appraisal. That should reveal the information you are looking for. it likely shares that number with many others. hope it all works out!!!
