Well the original idea or itch took place because I felt that I needed to have 2 choices on the Vacation/Beater department. Although I should change the Heading to Vacation/Weekend choice. So I could have an alternative to the Rolex for the less rough situations. I already have 2 choices for the Dress/Casual department: 5205R and 5712R. On that rationale it might make sense more to add the Sportier choice: the Diver. Although as soon as I type the word "Diver" I start to see redundancy as well. I feel trapped ! So as lmcgbaj pointed out, there is some overlap here although the two you're considering are somewhat closer to the sport end of the spectrum than the 5712R, so in this sense they do "fit" between it and the Sub. Not an absolute necessity (as if any of them are! ), but gives you a bit more versatility, I think with this you'd have all potential bases covered except for real and substantial abuse, but for that there's always the G-Shock option.

I guess that when a Patek wins a pool over an AP watch on the AP forum, the message is loud and clear !

I think you are right ! After all this is my 2nd attempt to buy the Aquanaut. When I was on the hunt for a rubber watch, I contacted Govberg but they didn't have the Aquanaut on stock at the time; they tried to give me an alternative based on what they had on stock and send me this pic After awhile I decided on the Breguet Marine So yes if it happen it should be the Aquanaut for seniority alone. I try to be careful of what I say because tomorrow I might say something different

I don't know if you've tried it on but the Diver is pretty thick and with your collection the Aquanaut would probably fit in better, but if the idea of an AP really appeals I would also consider the 15202 as you have the Hulk for a diver.

Deep inside of me, I know I don't need it, I also know that in the WIS world the 15202 is more iconic (Hey I think is more Iconic than the 5711) than the Aquanaut but for some reason I am thinking that the Aquanaut might be more fun.

Used to own a Diver, too bulky for everyday use.
I have tried the PP on and it fits like a glove.

Is interesting that I sometimes post a thread for input to try to get the dilemma resolved and the funny thing is that is hard for people to advise correctly if I don't even understand what's exactly what I really want.
In this case I finally understood my impulse, these are the reasons: 1) I love the feeling of freedom when I strap my Hulk on (not babying it at all), I want a AP or PP that gives me that sensation (want my cake and eat it too); that's why I narrow it down to 15703st and 5167A. 2) I feel the need (the need ) to have an AP or PP watch that brings a fresh feel from my RG Pateks. In other words I want a Hulk+ (a Midfield) . Does my small collection ready needs it ? Not really. That would be "the extra watch". That helps my mind to stop me for running and buy an "extra watch"; If I am still stubborn with the idea after 3 or 4 months then you will see an incoming thread. Thanks guys for all your input , Highly appreciated

But I hear you loud and clear. Again it's a lifestyle question always for me. What are you wearing, how do you wear them and how often. Good mix either way... |

had the AP Diver… it didn't stick.
have the Patek Aquanaut… i find more and more reasons to wear it, it is the ultimate fly under the radar watch and the dial is among the most legible day or night that i have ever owned. the Aquanaut is truly an all around watch. ultimately i think it came down to dial and hands, i know there are other things to consider, but these things weighed most to me. Ps. Another choice that sits squarely in the wheelhouse IMHO is a simple Panerai, 000 or 111 if you like the dial with a bit more.

Unfortunately I don't find the aqua or the diver to be worry free as with a sub. It would have to be ceramic bezel diver for that and my dilemma there is I dislike orange and yellow ain't my favorite either. Give me a some of the 44 offerings in 42 and I'd be in heaven.

Mmmmm I can see the Aquanaut taking 2 days on the week. That would leave 2 days for each of the other two Pateks and 1 Day for the Hulk Vs Now each Patek is used about 3 days a week. And 1 day for the Hulk. So you see the cost is to love less time the other two. Still possible..... 5 watches is insane in my current mind set. I like the ceramic idea, less possibility of scratches but Like the look of the original a little bit more. Quote:
Will see Thanks mate..... Quote:
I know nothing will be worry free as the Sub, but trying to get to the closest possible. A compromise. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll repeat what you already said Jorge...a Patek is winning a poll in the AP section. Enough said.

Guess I have to produce some evidence before we lose this case...which I thought was in the bag!
Don't overthink it

Chunky or thin, that is the decision. For me the aquanaut is too small. The 5980 is the only one that doesn't look small on me.

Outstanding Ben, as far as today I can say this I either add the AP diver or keep the 3 I have. The AP diver is the only possible fit for my collection. I want to be completely sure before I add anything, so if by Christmas I still have the itch. You will see a 3.B watch listed.
Will see..... Quote:
