I haven't updated this. I did get a refund and they gave me back the parts that were "supposedly" part of my watch. I still believe they are not. Now I have a franken Tudor waiting to find a donor movement.
The watch doesn't keep time and the oscillating weight is a random piece. I have sort of made peace with it. Just waiting to send the watch to thewatchguy.co.uk

The before picture looks like it's a nice and shiny movement, the after pics looks as if it may be a different movement, as on the whole it looks much dirtier/old.

Good luck.

Those unethical b@stards probably get away with crap like that most of the time. The general population doesn't know any better. I hope you get it sorted

I think seen as you caught them, gave them a chance to resolve the issue and you still aren't happy because you still don't think you got the correct parts back - you should name them for the protection of other members.

Before you try a confrontational approach I would try one that gives him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he was working on several watches and accidentally switched rotors.i'm not saying that's actually what happened but if you give him the benefit of the doubt it may work out easily for you. Sometimes when you're confrontational you wind up biting off more than you can chew. As for going to the police and reporting it as a theft, I don't think you would meet the burden of proof. One could easily question whether the watch in the first picture is the same as the watch in the second picture and on what date the pictures were taken. It seems more a civil matter then a criminal one. I'm not sure whether there are small claims courts where you live but if there are it's easy enough to file and represent yourself. Here in the states civil matters are determined by a preponderance of the evidence rather than a more stricter standard. Good luck and I'm sorry this happened to you.

MY BAD I NEVER GOT TO THE OP RESPONCE AND REFUND.

The shop is called "The Store FZLLC" It's in located in the Gold and Diamond park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

They buy/sell/trade new grey market and used high end watches. Rolex, Hublot, Pateks Audemars and so on. I wouldn't buy from them, and certainly i wouldnt give them any of my watches for servicing.

They might have replaced the movement in full. Although the movement is marked Tudor is just the oscillating weight that is complete rubbish. Yes the movement looked shiny but since i only had it for a couple of days didn't pay much attention to it.

If the watch didn't have a snap-back case. I would have never realized this, i just wanted to check it out of curiosity and that's when I found out. I think this might happen very often too.

You're in Dubai and to my knowledge over there they would not tolerate such scams. Do file a report. Across the GCC there is usually a consumer protection office at the gold market... being Dubai I'm willing to bet there is one in that market too. Don't let this pass!!

You might want to go to the RSC in Dubai and have them take a look. I know that the RSC in Abu Dhabi has done great work for me. With all of the news today in the UAE papers about fake items I am sure the Dubai police would be interested. Good luck.

Well, I did call consumer rights. And found out something uber awesome. Since the shop is in a Free-zone, there's nothing they can do. They told me to call the DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center Authority) to report them and the administrators of Dubai Gold and Diamond park. Which I did. The administration of Gold and Diamond park told me there's little they can do apart from "sending an email to the owner of the shop". Who I personally met and told me in my face "i don't care about your picture, it means nothing to me" and is a complete moron. DMCC never got back to me.
It's that false sense of security they give you.
Getting the police involved is sort of useless and can backfire easily. Starting from the point that is a civil case, which i happened to be involved before in this country. It all ends up in paperwork and no results.

I won't go into more rants or details about the government or it's institutions in the UAE because it can and will land me in trouble.

Thanks for your support and the details about the shop are available here for all to see.

Cheers guys.

There are free zones in AUH, I don't know for commodities but freezones do exist, twofour54 for example the media free zone in Abu Dhabi. I wouldn't be surprised if they share the same kind of "codes".

Anyways, when in Rome...

I really don't know what one is supposed to do in a situation like this.
You have before pictures of your watch and the after picture is different and they have no explanation?

I guess if you were in the US you would still be SOL. The BBB or the likes would do nothing. The police would do nothing. I guess a small claims suit would be your only option. But in Dubai???
