We come from all walks of life here and all with varied financial 'status'. We all share a common appreciation of wristwatches which is what brings us together. There is often appreciation for other things such as cars, etc that go along with that on this forum.

Perhaps the OP is being a little tongue-in-cheek, but there's no need to apologise to me - I've never been in the least bit bothered by the 'My Rolex and my car/boat/private jet' threads. In fact I enjoy them and I have not even owned a vehicle (by choice) for over 7 years. If you look around, there are pictures on TRF of watches with every imaginable object. I've never noticed any overt showing-off.

Imho those who are 'offended' or react defensively to these threads should just move on to something else. Plenty of room here for everyone.

Surely, you jest.

It is we with the unbalanced livestyles who owe the apology.

However, there will be no apologies from me, as I'm as happy as a dead pig in the sunshine.

Grady, surely you jest. How can a dead pig be happy?

You can be happy as a pig in sh!t, but a dead pig? Over my head.

You are a show off, but so aren't all of us on the forum anyway. It's not like you go to random people on the street and show them your watch. Your in good company here bro, I wouldn't beat yourself up too bad :)

My mother always said, "As happy as a pig in the sunshine." I decided to Google it because I'd heard others say it differently. "As happy as a dead pig in the sunshine" is what came up, so I just figured that mother had censored the saying, as she had a habit of doing.

So, I decided to go with Google. As usual, I should have listened to Mother.

I never thought of myself as a show off to post a picture of my watch and my car here. Frankly, given some of the pics from other members I'm actually more embarrassed than showing off.

Certainly this is a place where the members appreciate some of the finer things in life, yet one of the things I like about it is the folks here seem to be anything but show offs. For the most part many of the fellows with the nicest toys seem to have some of the most centered perspectives on life and an appreciation for what is really important in this world.

Isn't "unbalanced lifestyles" really different priorities? How many times do you hear "why in the world would you spend $10,000 on a watch?" from someone who spends $35,000 on a camper, or $200,000+ on a vacation home, or $60,000+ on a luxury car? We are all different with vastly different net worths. But what brings us together here is a love of nice timepieces, Rolex and others. Showing pictures of them are part of what makes it fun. Just don't call me Shirley

Shirley, it's a watch, not a "Hey, look at me contest" or is it?

Of course. I have friends with multiple houses, multiple vehicles, boats, and an airplane with a hangar to put it in who wouldn't spend more than a couple hundred dollars for a watch.

Often they're the ones who tell me I'm crazy for buying expensive watches and that was after they learned that my watches are real, as many presumed otherwise.

I've known multi-millionaires who dress like bums and live in mobile homes--on their own property, of course.

People have different ways of expressing themselves and it isn't always by living an opulent lifestyle.

Rolex forum and instagram. That's what they're for.

Consider this: It's not. "Hey look at me. I have more." It's "Hey look at the cool setting or background I just shot my watch near".

Watches are wonderful pieces of engineering and if I could have been a watch maker I would have been just as happy as I was in my original career.

I enjoy coming here and reading about the Rolex watches. I also enjoy sharing my experences. I enjoy seeing some of the photos and think about how the person made the shots and how I might be able to recreate and do something different with images. I changed careers and am now a Photographer that is working toward improving my product photography skills. This website has some great images of these wonderous pieces of engineering.

Now on to what this post is about. I have posted in the threads showing my collection, my steering wheel and my Daytona. To be honest I look back at it and I am ashamed. I was taught to be gratful for everything I have and don't be a show off. I come from a meger life and was fortunate in life. I was sucked in to the entire show me what you have concept in some of these threads. I was trying to produce images but on the inside I wanted to show off too.

I'm guilty of being a show off here and I'm sorry about that.

I also owe you all an appology for being critical and rude to a few others about them doing similar. When I looked back at my self thats when I realized what I was doing. I shouldn't have acted this way and am feeling like a complete ass because of it.

I promise that any images I post in the future will be my attempts at being artistic.

Not sure what you are talking about. When people post all the cool watches with the cool stuff everybody has that is called WHAT THIS FORUM IS ABOUT!!
If people think someone posting tons of expensive watches, cars, houses or whatever is showing off, they are jealous haters that can't enjoy fine things without jealousy, they need to leave!!
I love when people do well and are successful ! I can enjoy when others who have much more than I show their stuff!! I love and enjoy seeing cool stuff.

If you don't like it work harder and get it yourself is what I say

No one ever gave me nothin!!

Post all the cool and great pics of what ever you want for us to enjoy, if others don't enjoy seeing people do well and having somewhere to share and appreciate it don't log in and certainly don't put people down for sharing stuff others may not have, Boo Hoo

Never once thought of anyone bragging on this forum. It is a forum about luxury watches and without those posts this forum would have disappeared from the internet. If this forum was gone, I would have saved a ton of money. If I had saved a ton of money, my wife would have spent it all! Please post away, show me what you bought, I need it!

I totally agree! This is one place where we can all get along and appreciate our collections. I recently got bashed on instagram for posting wrist shots by a couple of friends saying that I am showing off but in reality, I am not. If I really wanted to show off, i would take a picture of the watch with the receipt and price tag in the background.

This is one of the few places where that is common practice and widely accepted! Absolutely no reason to feel ashamed or apologize! 👍

Now if you did that on a arts and crafts forum it may come across as flaunting!

Rolex forums, Sorry about being a show off and a jerk.

Meh. I don't think anyone here gets on a Rolex forum to flaunt or show off. If they do they are not here long. We are here because we love watches (and empty bank accounts). I drive a Chevy pickup truck and love to see the Ferrari and Lamborghini guys on here posting pics. Not my deal, but they are proud of them. Doesn't make you a jerk to post about your kids getting married or graduating college, just a proud parent. Now if you were acting like a jerk, I say kudos for sacking up and doing the right thing.

If it wasn't for them, it would harder to live vicariously through this forum.

I have not near the funds of really anyone here but don't see it as bragging or showing off. I see people who have varied but good taste and it gives me something to work hard and aspire too. There are many posts I see that even if I had a trillion dollars I wouldn't own whats in the pic, and then there are others that make me work hard and save so that one day I too can enjoy what I see. If someone has envy for what you have that is on them. Unfortunately society has bread people to look for instant gratification and has given folks a sense of entitlement. I say look up to those who have more or nicer things because with those things come a new set of problems that you don't see and I know so many of you guys get judged for what you have and not who you are. Its BS to me. If the people judging were to quit blaming you and work hard themselves they may one day be in your shoes.

I work with a girl who's family gave her a house and land and pay for her kids private school, etc. She brings home almost twice what I do and her boyfriend does too but she holds a grudge against me for having a nicer car and having 3 of them to her one, and for having nicer shoes and watches and guns. I save for everything I have. She puts everything she sees on lay-a-way to try and keep up when if she didn't study what i had on and saved for what she wanted she could have far more than I do. Be she feels entitled.

Long story short, no apologies man and keep my motivational pics coming!

Oh and I posted in the watch and steering thread too with 3 of my 4 sup 10k vehicles and 2 sub 1k watches so I should apologize for dragging down all the beautiful pics of the wonderful works of mechanical art you folks own

Agreed 100%. If someone is talking about a watch, a car or anything that you are fortunate to own it's a great pleasure see some pics if they are somehow related to the thread. However, when it's gratuitous, with no context with the topic or even posted a million times it may be a bit annoying. There are members here with great car collections and other great things and you don't see them posting pics frequently, and those guys have my full admiration.
