When you can spend $8-10K, if buying new, and it won't effect your life for one second.
Personally, I'd buy a pre-loved beauty and save thousands... just saying.... |

Put one thousand dollars away every month for a new watch. If you miss a month don't worry about it, just put a thousand away the next month and don't raid your fund, no matter what.
In a year or so, you'll have enough money to buy a nice new Rolex or an even nicer used one. In the meantime, spend some time here and on other forums and learn something about the subject so that you can fully appreciate the brand and also make a wise choice. Learn enough and you will come to the conclusion that not only can you afford a Rolex, but you'd be foolish not to own one, regardless of your income.

Look vintage (unless the new stuff really speaks to you).... prices are more affordable unless you're going after something really crazy

I decided to buy Rolex watches ever since I saw the total of my wifes nails, hair and CVS/walgreens runs in a monthly basis.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time taking a post like this seriously. These were all bought on a MUCH less than a six figure salary. Yes, you can afford a Rolex.

If you have saved some money, the right time to buy a Rolex is when you know the serial number of the watch you want, you know which caliber the watch holds, you also know when it was released for the first time and at least something about it's history. This is just my humble opinion.

Personally i have this habit of buying things to mark certain milestone. So i have things around to remind me of my promotions, wedding etc
I told myself that i will get myself a Rolex once i found my house. Once i got it, i re worked my sums. Gave myself another 9 months to make sure i kept to budget and my family is comfy. I then bought my 16610LV. (Flipped for subC) When i know my wife is pregnant, i already told her that i will buy another Rolex for the child one year old birthday. Same thing, worked my sum and make sure all cost are worked out. I dont earn 6 figures per month but i guess i plan for things. I dont have a car as well so in Singapore, having a car is like having another house. I dont have debts too but the housing loan. My family is first in my life. I guess its just making sure the balance sheet balance. |

Anytime there is a rumor of a price increase is a great time to buy.

You'd own every model in the Rolex line within a year, Cellini included.

It doesn't matter too much how much money you are earning it all depends on your financial situation and how you manage your money. If you can afford it without selling an organ or one of your children then by all means don't give it a second thought!

My thinking is.....if you have to ask, the timing isn't right. Only you know if you can afford it and if you are having a hard time figuring it out then ask a financial advisor!

When is the right time to buy?
You could make $1,000,000 / year but if you spend $1,000,001, you are poor.
Realize what would make you comfortable to have in cash in case of emergencies. Invest intelligently. Then think about what you can afford and want to buy. Don't settle |

I'm currently saving for my first. If I get a bonus at work, it goes in my watch account. I don't golf much, I don't hunt or own a boat. I want this watch, and when I have enough to pay cash for it, I'll buy it with no regrets because that money was "extra" anyway. I rarely treat myself. This won't cause me stress.

I really like the idea of tying the purchase to a certain event or milestone. It really makes the watch a lot more personally meaningful when you can tie it to a birthday, a promotion, an earnings goal, a vacation, an anniversary, etc.
I have one all picked out, but won't buy it until early next year for my 15th wedding anniversary. I could go in and buy it tomorrow without blinking, but it will mean so much more the other way. |
