The 1969 Rolex meters first 1680/8 on a Patent Pending bracelet now joins my meters first 1967 Rolex 1680 Mk I.

The 1680 Mk I was the first Submariner to move away from being a pure tool diving watch to having additional mechanisms (i.e. the date function). The 1680/8 meters first was the first Submariner to move away from being a utility watch to becoming a luxury product. To me it is a very important part of the Submariner history leading to what the watch is today.

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Q's meter first is the earlier watch n so it's freaking rare. That's why it's in the grail territory. It's practically the first batch of solid gold tool watch made by rolex. How rare? Well if u know red sub, then u know MF is quite rare. Then put in perspective that for every 1000 SS there is one gold (I have no idea of the actual no., just a healthy estimate.). So assuming gold MF were made in proportion to feet first, then we can envision the gold MF is like a needle in a haystack. 😵
