I ended up getting a new one that hadn't been worn, but at a discounted price so I came out on top. I am in love.

Thanks for all your responses.

I did really good on a new one from an out of state AD friend of mine. No tax and low $10k range.
PM'd David and he was awesome to deal with and responsive as all get out. He told me that I was getting a great deal to go get it.

Could probably be had for a few pence cheaper used NIB but not enough to make his time worth it??

This is impossible to know for sure, but if you *intend* to hold on to this one (i.e. not only curious to try it out, etc), I'd say go new for sure. The difference in price is not that big - for someone dropping 10k on a watch, anyway - and you can find one BNIB from a trusted seller here for under that.

Best of luck.

But everyone drives a used car

I couldn't resist:

Everyone drives a used car. Why buy new if used is just as good?

Having said that, my penultimate Rolex purchase was an Explorer I
from David SW, and it exceeds my expectation. It's my daily wearer
now.

Looks great on you. Simply not another watch (imho) with the same "presence" as dssd. Enjoy!

On Ebay there is a few dealers who will sell you Brand New In Box Deep Sea's for less than from a Rolex Dealer. My personal favorite is Sant Blanc because the chocolates that come with are almost as good as the Rolex :D. But a few other good ones are Watch Chest, and Beckertime.

Big congratulations on a great watch!!

I have owned mine for about seven years and I still love the watch. The Deep Sea isn't for everyone, but it looks great on you
