It sounds to me that what you need is a 42mm PAM 372, but there is no such thing.

Maybe a Luminor base? The case would be different since it won't have the 1950 case, but still a good looking watch.

Thanks guys. This watch and the 372 have been keeping me up at night. Have settled on a 372 and not too concerned with size anymore, however this watch is still haunting me. Hopefully I can see both together and pick or I can easily see ending up with both way down the line.

That's hilarious, I too fall asleep at night thinking of these two watches, I have had both side by side at Bal Harbor boutique in South Beach a few months ago and I couldn't make up my mind then....all I need is a little nudge from someone here!

haha...So I'm not alone. I really like the 372 but feel that maybe it's simplicity which I love may end up giving it this kind of clock look on my wrist vs a watch look, if that makes sense. The seconds hand breaks up the dial on the 422, but don't like the Panerai name on the bottom. It's just those little details but none make or break the watch....just ocd.
I know one will definitely be on my wrist come January.

I was undecided between the 422 and 372 as well.

In a way I still am;) But I chose the 422. Here's why.......I was apprehensive of the size. Yes I know that both are 47mm but the extra verbiage and the seconds sub dial make the dial appear smaller. Also the power reserve indicator is a handy feature. I still think the 372 is a great watch. Every time I see pics of it I want one;) But I can't wait for my 422 to arrive.

Hey, Chip, fantastic photos!

I was looking for this exact strap for my 422, and had a really hard time finding one. Did you make a special order with your AD? I would love to get my hands on one of those.

Hi there.

I just walked into the Dallas Panerai boutique and asked to see what they had in 26mm.

I'm sure they can special order it if not available, I believe it was 260 without the tang buckle.
