yellow gold is the least popular among younger folks. that being said, i'm 31 and i just got a yellow daydate, i have been chasing one for years and am in love.

Yellow usually for me. My gold watches are yellow, but they are alo older (one 24 years old, and one over 50 years old). Old yellow gold is fantastic.

The only solid gold watch I would buy is the Smurf. RG and YG look good, but it just has too much bling factor for a watch (purely my opinion). Wearing a YG sub would give me the same feeling as wearing one of Mr. T's chains. WG and platinum fly under the radar a bit more.

id say the majority of gold Rolex that I've seen are YG followed by WG then RG.
I personally prefer WG on most Rolex models , except for the DD2 .. In that case I really think the RG is stunning.

Rose gold is great although I assume it is the smallest percentage. Maybe YG, wg, RG?

It would be interesting to know how many of each (YG WG RG Pt) have been made total vs. current year's sales. I would say RG is trending well above historical % in the past few years.

The New Jersey and New York Mafia is still issuing their capo's YG DD's, but I heard the younger pezzonovante are wearing RG once they make their bones. Godfather wears platinum. All rumor of course, as my sources are all dead or retired in Florida.

For me the choice to buy gold had nothing to with the color and everything to do with the weight, texture, and how easily it absorbs and retains body heat. My choice to go with white gold is it's flexibility. White matches everything where yellow and rose gold have places where they look amazing and others where they just don't fit.

If I had to choose between a Gold or Everose Daydate, I wouldn't known what to pick to be honest.

I still remember the Everose DD I saw at an AD. It looked so unbelievably good.

White Gold, Rose Gold, and Yellow Gold. I do not like yellow gold very much. I think the color of gold preference is really based on age.

Really, I would have thought rose gold is in the rise and YG declining?

You are correct RG outsells YG in many top watch brands outside of Rolex as I stated in my earlier post i.e. Patek, Lange, AP, etc. He heard wrong.

That's coz RG is usually on a strap. In the bracelet models I think it's the other way around...the YG dominates.

Taste is such an individual matter that it's hard to do more than simply remark on the reported percentages. That said, my tastes (and mine only) are as follows; your mileage of course will vary.

I prefer YG on a traditional dress watch (which to me means a slim case on a leather strap). I'd probably forego YG on a dress watch with a metal band because (again my taste only) it's too much, too flashy.

I prefer WG on the Rolex "tool" line because it preserves the traditional look while providing the heft and pleasure of gold, and while flying under the radar (which to me is appealing, I like knowing what I've got and others not).

RG I'd save for certain models that seem to fit it so well, like the Daytona and the Sky Dweller.

I'd take platinum over any of the golds, on any watch that has that option.

Not for Patek or AP RG tops for sure! Again for Rolex yes of course.

PS and yes most are on straps but for one's on bracelet RG again dominates big time just like it does on strap. The demand around world for YG watches is low outside of Rolex and USA.

I'd add to my previous comments that if one is purchasing for long - term value, then RG might be a bit of a risk, since it's not clear whether the rush to RG is a long - term trend yet.

As an aside and in response to another current thread, I think a RG Sub might not be a bad idea, since it would likely attract new female purchasers to this model. Again, my opinion only, but outside of the aforementioned Daytona and Sky Dweller models, I see see RG as a mostly female choice.

I may be alanc is right that RG is a female choice. Many men may be getting more feminine these days.

I have both RG, YG and WG - and think it is ideal to have all three in a collection.

And Yes RG definitely goes best of the three with a feminine pink shirt.

Tried this on today and loved it...Neil's pictures got to me.

Also tried on this but still not quite there on Sky D yet just doesn't do it for me and believe me I have tried! I will say though of all of them this is my favorite version that I have seen in person to date.

But I did pick up my WG Patek 175th Anniversary piece the 5575 World Timer Moonphase and am over the moon over it! Cheers,
