Congrats Wes, nothing beats observing a matte dial through a plexi crystal and with the dial turning brown, awesome. Each one is unique and the hunt is so much more fulfilling. Welcome to the vintage world

Happy New Year! Congratulations on a wonderful pick up! Great example of a super fat font faded bezel with wonderful patina dial.

Glad it worked out to your most optimistic expectations. It's a beauty, and since this is a GMT party I feel like an invitee.
Question: Do you have any indication the date wheel has been changed? Is it a closed- or open-6 & 9 wheel? AFAIK mine has never been changed and it is open. Below is a shot of the wheel out during its last service. Also notice the "hooked 7".

I'm not sure. I haven't checked yet. My date wheel is silver, though I don't believe that means much. I've read that the 1675 came with both silver and white date wheels. |

Thanks!
I do have a question regarding this watch. . When I hold the watch upright, if I shake it lightly back and forth (not up and down), I hear and feel a little bit of movement in the rotor. I do not believe this noise is coming from the rotor not being able to spin freely. If I rotate the watch so that the rotor can spin, I do not notice any odd noises or vibrations. Only when I move it back and forth do I notice this odd sound/feeling. It is as if the rotor is not seated properly? I am not sure if these noises are more common with the vintage watches, but I do not notice this when I try to replicate the sound with a new Rolex. Am I worrying about nothing or does this sound like it could be an actual issue? |
