Hey Gaijin, what an awful turn of events. I'm so sorry about your Daytona, but more glad that you didn't split your head open.
Hang in there, things have a way of working out in the end.

So sorry to hear. Reading about your insurance made me so mad. Looks like you covered all the bases and hopefully it shows up.

Sad story and know what you mean on your comments about the Japanese usually being so polite. Glad though that nothing was broken and hopefully playing with your niece's baby will take some of the pain away...

Terrible news and I've much sympathy for your situation. Not only the physical injury and pain but also a feeling of loss I am sure. Hope you can take a deep breath and then get back out there. Good luck.

Really feel for you. What a crap situation. Tough looking stairwell, all hard surfaces, you were lucky you didn't break your wrist (or neck). Always so disappointing when people behave like that. Destroys your faith in humanity.
You have to figure your watch will end up in a Pawn Shop but of course they will not be interested in helping you recover it.
Hopefully you will eventually be able to replace it with something you like.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I hope all of the friendly support we can offer you goes a little way towards helping you to feel better. I wish I could do more to help. I will keep an eye out for your watch around the usual sales sites etc.
I also hope the two mystery men get their comeuppance. Stealing is terrible enough, but stealing from somebody injured in an accident is simply disgusting.
Take care my friend

Unbelievable. Such a crazy crazy crazy crazy number of crazy things happening all at once, such a low probability of happening but it apparently happened. Sounded like you covered your bases. I would be aggravated. Sorry for your loss.

You could have been very seriously injured, and as painful as the injuries were, that part could have been much worse. Glad you are on the mend!

Very sorry to hear of this rotten situation. Hoping for the best possible outcome!

Tom that sucks big time! A suggestion if you decide to go after the building owners. Measure the stair risers and stair widths to see if they are all consistent and to code, the nosing is ridged, likely is non slip tile, so presumable they are to code. As well take a level to stairs and landing to see if there is any drop off at all. What you really want to find out is if others have fallen there as well , if so and the landlord still hasn't done anything to remedy the area, depraved indifference = huge compensation to you. I won a 6 figure stair injury award doing just those things. Pic looks like landing maybe not level, difficult to tell. Good luck, it really could have been so much worse, believe me,been there, years of physio and pain meds, no fun.You are upright and appear little worse for wear, I'll bet you it will somehow all work out for you.

Sorry to hear this, although I know it's not much of a help.

Damn bad about the insurance. I have mine on my homeowners insured for a realistic replacement sum.

Just imagine the odds, that someone would steal from you at a situation like this in Japan! Like winning the lottery!

Tom, really sorry to hear about what happened. At least you were not seriously injured.

Since you reported the loss to the RSC, hopefully it will turn up soon and you'll be reunited with your baby.

Keep us posted and let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

That is horrible! I am so sorry to hear. Glad to hear the injuries were only minor.

Hopefully Karma will catch up someday to the person who stole your watch.

Gaijin,
Sorry to hear the terrible news. As other have said good luck with recovering that beautiful watch, just remember the watch is replaceable...you're not.
