I went to a local mall to do some research.

I saw the Z blue Milgauss for the first time. The medium blue dial shimmers and it is very attractive. The green edge of the sapphire crystal adds interest. I am not sure if I like the orange lightning bolt second hand. The watch I looked at was stopped. Maybe it looks cool as it circles. My jury is out. Definitely a sporty watch.

Next , I asked if a particular watch was the blue DJ2. In fact it was a black Dj2 under flood lights. I tried it on and liked it a lot . It could be worn to work or play. I liked the fluted bezel and I like having a date. They did not have the blue watch, which I must see again before deciding.

Then I asked if they had the white DJ2. My sales person said he did not think there was a white Dj2. I said there is, but maybe you don't have it. He looked it up in the book and I give him credit, he went over all the dial options with me. He seemed interested in the diamond versions, but they are not for me.

On my way out, I saw a white DJ2 in the window. It was also overlit and, as a result, looked washed out. My investigation continues...

I think the DJII would be more flexible.

I like the Milgauss, for more special than the DJ2 IMO.

DJII. I think I would tire after the novelty of blue, orange, and green wore off.

Blue dial, stick markers, fluted bezel. But I'm biased. It's my favorite Rolex I've owned. Just flat out classy.

Z blue Milgauss is a sexy watch. Blue DJ2 is very nice also. I would definitely get the Z blue.

I'm going thru the same process as you, I viewed the various dials at my local AD, it's White, Blue, Silver & Black all with baton markers, I didn't really like the Roman numerals or the Diamonds, the Rhodium with Arab numerals is laid out like a roulette wheel, so I didn't care for it.

I can scratch Black off the list because I want it different than my Submariner, Blue and Silver are nice, the White is not bad either, gives it a racy look. (Daytona)

The other option is to go TT with Champagne or Ivory, I just think the TT might be a little too flashy, not sure just yet.

One thing for sure, Fluted bezel over smooth.

At this point in time the Blue is the front runner.

DJ2 fluted blue stick. The Roman dial is also beautiful and is a different shade of blue but has no lume at all..there are no ugly DJ2s though so you can't go wrong.

Hmmm....the Z-blue is sort of like an exotic supermodel, the DJ2 Blue stick is like the stereotypical girl next door...so the question is, wife, or girlfriend?.... Choices, choices...

Own both - z blue dial Milgauss would be my choice. The Milgauss in general is my all time favourite Rolex. Peeled back the stickers a 2 nights ago.

Blue face Milgaus. I've already started saving up for one. I love my sub but a man (or a woman) needs a second Rolex! ;^)

I have the Milgauss GV... It's a unique and tremendously sexy watch. Very special IMHO. The blue one takes my breath away.

The blue Datejust 2 - and if you do decide on this, I think the fluted bezel is a must. It makes a big difference to the overall look and feel of this watch.

Is there a subconscious formula that new Rolex buyers follow? I too have the Sub ND and the polar Exp II, and was also tossing up between the same two new watches as the OP! Anyway, I am definitely leaning toward the DJ II. I think....

Went through something similar late last year.

Had my heart set out for the blue milgauss but ended up with a DJ2 when I was at the AD.

I liked the size and classic look of the DJ2 more than the milgauss in the end.

I do accept that my taste runs to the conservative and classic. As of now, leaning towards black DJ2 with fluting. Could still go blue or white. Plan to buy in late March, 2015.

You need to stop posing this pic, or it is going to cost me several thousand dollars!

I saw a blue Milgauss a few months ago at an AD, and I have to say I was really impressed; and I have never been a fan of the Milgauss line. The dealer also had several DJII models and I was a little disappointed in how chunky they look.
Whatever you decide, I'd try before you buy.
