Go vintage !!!

the difference between an 1803 to 18038 threw me off at first - I can only imagine what a DayDate II would be.

Rolex too big? That has to be a non-issue....no way.

Now, I prefer my watch to be heavy... My TT Subc has some weight to it. It feels amazing to me!

I agree with this. I felt the newer Subs and GMT's were too thick and heavy, so I opted for a like-new 16710 instead of the 116710. That one fits me perfectly, and as others have said the weight and size just disappears very quickly as you wear it. I have a feeling that I would get used to wearing the 116710 as well, but I still feel visually it's too large on my wrist.

I came across the thread below from a Hong Kong Rolex forum. Weight of some of the older sport Rolexes are listed below.

Looks like you have found your sweet spot (Brand & Size). After being part of other threads on this forum, AP, and Paneria and reading your posts, it seems to me , that after you obtained your 2 PP watches, its hard for any other brand to measure up to PP comfort and design in you mind. I too have experienced that after leaving some other brands. On any given day, I can go from a 47 mm Panerai to a 40 mm Luminox black out, which is super light weight and my wrist adjust after a few minutes. It's all about what we as individuals can get use to.

Rolex watches are built for the long haul. Remember, they were, and still are tool watches. The case and band are all about protecting your ability to tell time in difficult situations.

Sounds like you might want to stick to the Pateks...I for one like the heft and feel of my Rolexes. To each his own.

I know the trend is now to bigger and bigger watches but I for one prefer thinner and lighter pieces, after 5 minutes I forget that I'm wearing one of mine because the weight is light and the comfort is incredible.

Does anyone else here feel that the Rolex modern pieces are a little too big and heavy?
You are used to a small watch, so these arent for you.

Get a celini

I like to feel what I am wearing and find Rolexes too light

I came from several Breitling Chronomats (44mm) so the Rolex seem smaller and lighter. They are definitely heavier than my PP but quite manageable and enjoyable.

If someone finds Rolexs (esp stainless models) too heavy, Id like to recommend a gym membership and possibly a personal trainer......

Why not consider a DateJust or an Oyster Perpetual?

Have you considered looking at vintage Rolex?
My 5512 is so light on its original hollow stretch bracelet that I put it on a oval jubilee to add some weight. On leather it's barely noticeable.
A caution however that vintage Rolex collecting can be addictive....lots more to learn and discover, but also many more pitfalls. There is a certain gratification to know that you can't simply walk into a local AD and pick up an original condition Rolex from the 60's, 70's, or 80's.

If you were used to the classic models, then yes, the modern models take some time to get used to...but once you do, nothing else feels the same!

Maybe if I wear a Patek, it would feel the opposite. That I am wearing a light watch or nothing except for the fact that my brain is thinking I paid a huge amount of money, which is quite "big" and "heavy" for my pocket IMO.

Of course it's not a problem of moving my hand with the watch, just that the feel of the watch on the wrist is heavy

No I don't care about the latest model, will see if I can try an earlier model sub no date one day, the only thing is that the clasp won't be as good as the new one...

You could try the new Cellini or the Datejust (original). Or an Air King. Or just find a non-Rolex watch for which you like the weight. I have a few light and elegant Jaegers!

I love JLC but the problem is even if there are dress watches Ilove it's just not for me, I'm a sports watch guy, so apart from Rolex, Audemars Piguet with their Ro and ROO line, and Patek with their "sporty" watches but in no way real sport watches like Rolex, there are not a lot of brands which have cool sport models...

Not at all the problem that it doesn't measure up to Patek, I compared with Patek on 2 occasions, one time to say that I was disappointed when I saw the Royal Oak which is the direct competitor of the Nautilus, and here just to say that they feel super heavy when you're used to Patek, not comparing Rolex to Patek, incomparable, Rolex are heavy duty sports watches, the Nautlius and Aquanauts are sporty dress watches, so impossible to compare, just saying that since I wear Patek I just can't wear "heavy" watches, even when I still had my Hulk I didn't wear it for more than 30 minutes…

Well before I was also like that, I liked to feel the weight of a watch on my wrist, totally the contrary now, I like the watch to "disappear" after a few minutes

My Rolexes are the lightest and most comfortable watches I own. Only the Deepsea sort of bothered me.
