Great review Larry. I know Omega has made some model changes to the speedy. I remember the crystal material was changes, but am unsure if many other significant changes were made. Can you shed any light on this topic? Thanks again.

Excellent Review Larry...
I hope you don't mind if I add a few comparison photos to your review... I have two very hi-def comparison pics I can post but they are large, around 2000 X 3000, let me know if you want them here.

And yes these are fairly large, I hope the detail makes up for the load time for those with slower connections. Thanks for letting me share

Great review and fabulous pictures, Larry. However, without factoring in cost, your review seems like it concludes with a "draw" thereby causing many folks to choose one over the other based on more subjective characteristics...namely, size, brand preference, historical import, feelings re manual wind...etc. But, if you include cost as a data point, is not the Speedmaster the winner by TKO as a result of it being approximately 3 times less expensive? Maybe I'm being naive, but it's hard for me not to hear the whispers of my practical side when thinking about which watch would be next on my list.

Yep great review ,but please let me give you something to think about if you was to be buying ether one of these great watches,in 1999 my kid brother got a new bi metal daytona for his 18th birthday ,my parents god love them at the time got a great deal for it and paid a £1000 less than the asking price of £5350 and got it for £4350 !
Just recently he was considering upgrading to an all gold model ,so he asked different places on what the watch was worth, ether for cash or as a PX ,one shop offered him £5700 cash or over £6500 as a px against a new gold one . If they would of bought an omega for my brother would that watch hold its value as well as his rolex daytona has ?? Both great watches but for me there will always be the one sensible choice between a Rolex and any other brand . |

The good old days, when people could compare brands and models without attacking one or the other. Well done.
