Agree, talking about the RO generically does not make a lot of sense, I think the 15202 will be somewhat different but frankly who knows.

If you get a steel version (15202, 15300, 15400) at a good discount from msrp, you should be fine in terms of depreciation.

Generally speaking, Rolex has much better resale value than AP. I'm a serial flipper as well. Best bet is to buy preowned at the right price.

Will they retain value? Not if AP keeps pumping various editions at this rate.

I guess, as long as AP royal oak is still attractive to the new collectors, sure yes it will maintain the value very well.

Will 15202ST (After 2012 model)holds its value comparably to PP 5711? AD Offered 15% off. Seems hard to find grey market new and pre-own prices. Thanks

I paid 12,000. for my ro black dial almost 3 years ago (new). Think I could get 10 or 11 for it now. I have never made money on a watch. If I get 11 then I would be pretty happy.!000 dollar loss for 3 years, not bad.

If you are likely to flip get a Daytona.
You could do better with a 15202 or 15300 bought at the right price than a 15400.

So what's the right price, say 25% off for a 15202st?

Around, there are a couple pre-owned for sale right here on the forum, something around $18.5k I think is fair.

I guess this price is expensive while AD is willing to sell around the same price BNIB.

I cannot find one selling 25% off. But I am sure 15% off is not an issue

Not every AD will have one to offer, boutiques have them in the back most of time but they hardly ever discount them.
So, I would get one here, there are unworn and mint for the around $19k. Could you do better at an AD, proooobably, but give or take a couple of hundred bucks I would save the trouble of finding one in a AD and haggling.
