In my opinion the Exp I is one of the best daily watches. It is very versatile and can be easily dressed up/down by simply changing the strap. However, buy what you want otherwise you'll regret it!

Do what I did and get both! You will be much happier

If I could only choose one, it would be a PAM because I am not a big fan of the Exp 1. If you were thinking about Sub, GMT II, or Exp II, then I may think differently. Look into 44mm Luminor cases if you need something that feels smaller like 000, 005, 111, 112, 510, 560, etc. With the PAM, you could get a rubber strap while you work and leather for when you arent working. Plus the straps are half the fun

Good luck!

Funny you ask... Tried them both on today while on vacation in Grand Cayman. The Explorer 1 all the way for me. I never liked it in photos, however, loved it on my wrist.

What a great pair

Especially with the shared history of the brands

I'm amazed at the number of Pam suggestions considering you basically went to a BMW forum and asked "BMW or LEXUS".

Maybe it's because the explorer isn't that great

Like many others, I have both brands.
I love my 359, fine with oem rubber strap around water. I've really beaten the hell out of it over the last four years or so.
Sounds like you're heading towards PAM, but I would always say, buy what sings to you.

Unless the PAM is a limited edition, the 1,500 or 3,000 is likely to be the run for that batch rather than the total made for that particular model...

I own both brands. I am not an explorer fan so I would do a 005 or a 111 Panerai. Now if you were talking a SubC ND that may be a different story.

Get what do you want. Whats right for one person might not be right for you. That said, I have the explorer and it is my favorite watch.

the new Exp I is 39mm? I wouldn't necessarily say that's small...and your right compared to the Panerai yes it is small but thats bc most PAM's are just huge. MOST ...not all...

i've got an Exp 1 as well as a PAM 233, which is 44mm. The Exp1 is more comfortable of the two, except when I wear the PAM on a rubber strap. Both are great watches though and you should get the one that makes your heart sing.

best of luck and let us know which one you finally get.
