I've wondered before who that sailor was. The watch looks like an old Oyster cushion, so probably late 1920s to WWII sometime. It looks posed for the watch, but who knows? The ad is much later of course.

If you click on that link, then go to Oyster Perpetual, the 34mm date is in the sub link.
I think we better let him in. ;)
Interesting but strange. I guess there is no accounting for how Rolex will do things. And we wonder why the OP has an identity problem.

Here's the link for the New Oyster Perpetuals...

My one and only...

118209 Presidents' model with White Gold Case, White Gold Bracelet, Meteorite Diamond Dial, Smooth Bezel.

I've not found any postings with this exact model number. Maybe I hold an item even more special than I know...?

It's a gorgeous watch but way up the food chain from the Oyster Perpetual. Congratulations on a beauty! Perhaps you meant to post in the DayDate thread?

First post! Just picked up a new 39mm OP (114300, dark rhodium) from the boutique in Chicago last week. Love it! Here it is next to my OP Date (circa 1983, I believe).

here's one of mine

a 1965 model 1007 safe queen from our family's neighbor up in the dry arid Benedict Canyon area of Belair.

love the traditional size vs the newer swollen models and it's a real blast from the past model. these old OP's have alot of snazzy appeal and certainly something the rat pack and other hollywood types wore in the day. :)

have a safe and fun weekend everybody!

Looking at the 39mm and realized I'd missed the latest addition to the thread. I love the bezel on the 1007. Thanks for posting it.
