But black is beautiful as well. Get a white 2005+ model on steel bracelet and a black with tritium dial and pierced lugs on a suede nato..
Best of both worlds.

Hi cenzor,

Why post-2005?

Is that when the 3186 was introduced?

The explorer 2's heritage is black dial. One of the other?

Black.

I've been lusting after a 16570 Polar for a year now. So white for me.

Do you guys think white is more causal?

Is it good for everyday with a suit? Jeans on the weekend?

What do you think?

I would pick the white. I own one. It's excellent. I prefer the 16750 to the 216570, also. Probably my favorite.

Hi! I ahould have explained better. For me around this time is the best setup of the Expl2 - solid end links, Swiss Made on the dial, solid ligs, no rehaut , tried and tested 3185 or potentially 3186 (altough some people complain about that movement).
3186 was introduced around 2007 if I am not wrong.
Anything post 2001-2002 should be fine actually, to be considered fully modern vs. the other setup I described (tritium, etc).

I own the Polar and I am actually hunting down a 1990s black version to wear on simple strap/nato.
Somehow I think it will compliment the white dial of the other one and make a perfect pair.
And is quite affordable for a Rolex that actually has a quite nice movement (GMT, independent hour hand, date).

I've been looking at these for a bit trying to decide if I should go white or black or even with an older sub.

It's a tough decision since I would prefer to be a one watch guy but I already have some nice watches in the collection just no Rolex yet.....

Get the black dial if it's your only watch. Get the Polar if you have others.

Both are very pretty. White will grab the eye more. The black paint has to be seen in real life to be fully appreciated. It changes drastically in different lights. Black is more understated and true to it's origins I think. Black has the 'phantom' hands which some like, some don't.

I chose black.

Don't listen to us. Try them both on.

Black dial. I had the white dial and tried to love it but just could not. I really can't put my finger on it but after a short period of time it just did not appeal to me. Traded it for a No Date Sub and could not be happier.

Other models do 'black' better.
None do 'white' better.

White can look good on pictures but is boring in reality. Black gets my vote.

I can see it becoming my daily for most summer days. Very comfortable and seems to be a very versatile option
