I would go with the Daytona. But if you're open to TT, then there are a few more dial choices from the standard black and white. And you can get pretty close to your budget with some judicious shopping.

Look at the APs a few here have mentioned. You might also be able to squeeze in a lightly used AP Diver at that price.

I too personally would go with an AP, especially if you already have a few Rolex. As far as JLC, my favorite is the meteorite dial master calendar, but might be out of your budget. I also love the geophysic but a little expensive for a time only watch.
