I was never going to admit this, but your post opened the door. I quite often wear my 114060 to bed. If my wrist is underneath my pillow and my ear is on the pillow (ear near Rolex with only pillow in between), in the dead silence of night I can often hear the same sounds. At first I thought I was hearing things, but it happened on many different nights. I can't hear anything with my watch directly at my ear, but I think the pillow somehow acts as a sound amplifier and I can hear it through my pillow. Call me nuts or not, but I know what I hear!

Really cool!!
I have listened to mine and other Rolex watches and noticed a definite "difference" in the sound made by sport models and DJ's. The sports models have that "ring" while the DJ's more of a staccato tone... until this video thought it was just my own ears picking that up, thanks!

Pillow Talk!
That's just cool!!
Mark me down as another whose Rolex does "pillow talk." Actually, that's the way I hear it best. I generally sleep on my side so my hand is under my pillow almost directly under my ear. My arm is positioned so that the SD is facing away from my head. I can hear the sound change, also. I have bad hearing and tinnitus and can still hear it! At night it's sort of comforting, actually . . . AGREE! |

Great thread and great video!
My three rolexes have different movements so they all sound different and I have always enjoyed listening to them. I discovered it through my pillow as well. When my 2 year old was really little I used to press my watch to his ear so he could listen and now he will grab my arm and pull my watch to the side of his head and say "hear" when he wants to have himself a listen. |

I just tried it, and it sounds kinda cool. It just makes all the notes lower. But the background hiss becomes more annoying and it also makes the sound change so slowly that it gets boring. It definitely loses its magic -- the way I just can't stop listening to it -- when it's slowed down.
If there's a lot of demand I might post a slow version. |

The audio and video are from different takes, so this alignment may not be true. However, there is a pattern that repeats every minute. Here is an image:

I mean, if it's a sound/recording studio, I would have expected total silence? Just post it up. Would be interesting to hear the slow-mo. Besides, since you work there, you could always trouble yourself and do another recording without the hissing. That said, aren't there any software to edit out that hissing sound specifically? (if using your original video) |

Do you mind sharing the signal? A while back I was thinking about building a timegrapher but I never invested the time in it. It would be fun to play a little bit with that signal. |
