Omega addresses this issue by offering a bezel insert with the bezel ONLY. You cannot buy "just" the insert. They assemble them on some sort of alignment jig or something so on the watch, they are always spot-on. If not, it is a "replacement" bezel, or a "fake" watch.

Really annoying if you want to replace the insert, but on the other hand it will be perfect once installed, as it should be.

Correcting the Rolex aluminum inserts is not too difficult, and you have the ability to purchase ony the insert too, which saves money. I have no idea (or desire) to tangle with a Rolex ceramic insert... Or Omega Ceramic one for that matter!

Nicely phrased Jake, agree on your point that it could be due to optical illusion or something along the along of psychological studies :) our mind play tricks on us more often than we care to know.
