Never. Even when asked. However since I mostly wear PM, it' usually not an issue for me.

They don't ask me, and I wouldn't take it off on my own.

Just to be safe, I usually take mine off before I get to the security line and stuff it into my carry-on. Same for keys, cell phone, etc. that way I'm not doing it while someone is watching where I put things.

Never at an airport.
However court security is a different matter. There it has to come off, no if's and's or but's.

LAX always wants you to take off everything in your pockets, including the watch you're wearing. So, I anticipate and take off my watch and put it inside my carry-on.

Good way to handle it.

Know that a woman put her Rolex in a tray while going through Ft. Lauderdale airport and the guy in front of her stole it. He was on the security cameras and everything. Looks like he was wearing it when they caught him! "I just found it" he says.

Can a watch get magnetized from airport security?

This for me.

I had had TSA tell me to take watches off in the past, and felt that generally (a) it's best not to mess with those people and (b) best not to announce to the world that I have an expensive watch on by making a big deal out of not wanting to take it off. So I carry a Casebudi and put it in the carry-on or a jacket.

They will in non-communist countries too. Can't say I have ever noticed a difference...not that there are many communist countries left any more.

Never take it off at US airport. But for what it's worth, I was asked to remove my GMT when visiting the US congress office buildings and also when visiting the gallery of the US Senate recently.

US - never remove it due to TSA Pre-check status where you don't have to remove laptop from bag, don't have to remove light jackets, etc to pass through screener.

International varies....Shanghai, Bangkok and Frankfurt always require it to be removed so I remove it beforehand and place in my backpack. No way I'm placing it in the plastic container because there is no guarantee you won't be delayed passing the scanner by the klutz in front of you that has a pocket full of junk and invariably trips the detector and delays everyone else.

This has been discussed many times before.
I don't take mine off, TSA Precheck line, no issues.

Flying in Europe, a lot, my experience is that there is no choice - it has to come off. North as Estonia to south as Italy and east as Ukraine to west as Ireland off it comes.

This has been talked to death. 90% of the time it's not a hassle but 10% of the time they will make you take it off. In front of everyone and in a bucket. Just take the precaution and put it in a safe place inside your carry on so nobody steals it.

Used to but since reading on here it wasn't necessary I haven't. Flown numerous times since and never had a problem. Definitely doesn't cause any alarms to go off in the full body scanner. Haven't triggered the buzzer in a metal detector either.
