5205R in black dial, but I am biased as an owner. The 5712r is also great. I have tried it a number of times and do not feel it wears bigger as the watch is much thinner.

Between your two chooses, I would go with the 5712R
Legibility of the original 5205G with the darker dial, became an issue for me, so I had it replaced by Patek for the lighter (Slivery/grey) dial. But if you add the white/cream dial, like the one that Ben has, then without doubt it would be that one :)

Well.... as of Sunday I am the owner of my first Patek.
The 5712R. Thanks for all your opinions, it did help me ultimately choose the more versatile watch for me. Don't get me wrong the 5205R is drop dead gorgeous too but the finances won't allow me to have both unfortunately. |

Leaning toward 5205 as i prefer my nautilus on a bracelet.
Suggest you try them both on if you haven't, that is usually more useful intel than the well intended opinions you'll get here.

All the 5205's are gorgeous, the 5205R black dial is quite special. I own the 5205G black dial and can't quite get on with the way it wears. The concave case is beautiful but causes the watch to wear small and yet thick on me. I've had no such issues with any Nautilus. They all wear beautifully, especially on the bracelet.
