I would not take any high end watch biking. It doesn't fit the part and it's one more thing to worry about. For me, a Garmin would grace my arm while Cycling, running, ect. It provides more use for the task.

I cycle. If I'm riding somewhere, I wear a Garmin and leave the Rolex in a pouch in my pack.

I'm a cyclist and have ridden and raced all over the U.S. As well as toured in France and Italy. I always have a sub or SD to wear after the ride or race. If you don't have a secure place to store your SD while riding, I'd put it in a soft pouch in a saddle bag. That way after your ride you can pop it on and enjoy!

Wow. Thanks for all the advice. I think what I will do is wear my Polar digital watch while cycling and take the SD with me in a soft pouch and put it in the zippered bag under the seat. Then wear it apres cycling.
I appreciate all the help. This forum is great.

Went to Provence this year 8 day cycling trip around Avignon, wore my Omega, absolutely no problem, quiet roads, very friendly people. Take the watch, just don't fall off!

A watch should be something to wear, the more scratches, the more moments you'll remember.

A Safe Queen is boring.

Just my 50 cents.

You bought it to wear, right? Bring two watches, one for cycling and the Rolex for when you're sight seeing.....have fun!!

In that area of France I think your Seadweller will be one of the cheaper watches around

But honestly, you are cycling through countrside, wine fields, quaint little villages. Exactly who is going to spot that Seadweller on your wrist, let alone steal it? If you can't wear a watch whilst cycling through the provence then where can you wear it?

Just don't fall.
(I'm just back from a cycling trip in the Netherlands with my Explorer. On some bad roads its shock resistance was put well to the test! Another thing to consider )

Leave it at home as cyclists are robbed every minute of their Rolex's in France.

No one will give a rats *** about your watch.

Obviously over the course of (literally) many thousands of miles I have had "mishaps" but thankfully none that were serious and no watches were injured. I would be less concerned about traveling with the watch in a foreign country than I would in some local neighborhoods. If it were me, I'd take the watch, put it out of my mind and enjoy the trip! Here are pictures of my SD 4000 and my bike. I'm seventy so I limit myself to 30-40 mile trips at a leisurely pace!

Very nice shots!

I would have to agree with my good friend beef on this one. Yet, I have always worn a Rolex non stop, cycling included. But that was in the inoncence of youth..:follow beefs advice! :

I would totally wear it. Now depending on where you go and if you know Paris, I would insure it before departure. I love the tan line my Rolex leaves. My heart rate monitor goes on the other wrist or in the back pouches. Making memories with your Rolex is part of the ownership experience, dents, scratches and all. Have a fun trip...love Paris

I would wear something more fit for the job, a G-shock for example or anything light, confortable and resistant, ideally with no moving parts.

I'm a road biker (200 miles/week) and wear my GMTII-C. A few weeks ago my wife and I did a 10-day bike tour in northwest Ireland and of course I wore my GMT. Two years earlier we did a similar trip and I wore my TT DJ. I buy my Rolexes to wear, not leave them in a box. Do I worry about crashing and doing some serious damage? Absolutely! I also worry about catching my Rolexes on a doorframe and a hundred other things that might happen.
