Cant decide between two rolexes

My first Rolex was a GMT Master II, with red/black bezel. Wonderful watch. Very versatile...wear it anywhere, with anything. Useful, too. The date and GMT complications are quite handy. All things considered, it would be on the short list of "if I only had one watch it would be____".

Were I in the market for a new, current production GMT today, it would be the BLNR. My only complaint is the shape of the case/lugs. I prefer the more tapered look of the older model. A very subjective consideration.

A couple of years ago, I bought the Daytona. Stainless steel, with white dial. Gorgeous watch. Comfortable. It is both sporty and dressy.

My one complaint is the legibility of the subdials. This limits the usefulness of the otherwise excellent chronograph function. In the right lighting conditions, as when it's overcast, the chronograph is quite legible. In sunny weather, it's very hard to read the subdials. The white dial contributes to this, as it reflects light. Perhaps the black dial would fare better. I don't know.

Both great watches. The Daytona, though, would not be on my "if I only had one" list. I'm glad to own it, it's a stunning piece, but forced to choose between it and the GMT, the GMT would win. It's just a more practical tool for me.

There is no right/wrong answer here. It's subjective and based in your circumstances.

My advice? Try them both on and listen for your intuitive reaction. Go with your heart, not your head. I've found that when I do, my satisfaction is long lasting.

Enjoy this "problem"--a good one to have! Good luck!

The question of Want or Need ?
Which one do you Want and which one do you Need ?
The answer may be both Then you Need to decide which one you Want first

I'm not historically a fan of the BLNR, It's my least favorite GMT..but I'd say in this case go with the BLNR. I believe the Daytona has been more associated with a woman's watch as of late because of Michael Kors.

I know at least 50 women with Michael Kors "Daytona" rip offs. And another bunch with actual Rolex Daytonas. I do not personally know any guys with a Daytona. And I happen to be a member of a rather large luxury watch club.

Daytona first. A Rolex classic then save for BLNR.

Having owned both at the same time, I would give the nod to the BLNR. While both are appropriate for eery day wear, personally, I find the BLNR just a bit more versatile. But at the end of the day, you can't go wrong with either one.

BLNR...Both have PCL's - but BLNR has a ceramic bezel... super tough...

Daytona bezel with show wear easily.

i see a lot of people saying both and this is your 1st watch.
the blnr would be what you should get and then one day hope for the daytona.
daytona is lighter and you really miss not having the date available.

if you really wanted to know what was up you'd find a nice pre-owned 16710 for 5k (get pepsi/coke and black bezels OEM if you have to) and then a stainless daytona on a leather strap for like 6-7k and have both for maybe 25% more than you'd pay for just the blnr alone. black face gmt, white face daytona - and now you mix it up. but that's me ;)

Its a question I was asking my self a few months ago, except I was debating between the BLNR and white dial daytona.

In the end I decided on both (kind of)

I have bought the BLNR now, and in a few years will be adding the Daytona. Honestly, I'm glad I went BLNR, for the reasons others have said.

In all honestly you will be happy with either
