Functionally, a 60 min bezel with 15-45 min one color and the other half another doesn't really make sense.
A countdown bezel with maybe the last 15 min in another color could make sense, but a bezel 1/4 one color and 3/4 another color would look odd. |

Well, obviously the bi-color bezel denotes day and night. That's it's functionality as a multi time zone watch.
Quote:
If perhaps the colors started at 12 and finished at 3 o'clock relative to the dial then that would make sense from a timing and function perspective. As such you are ruining an icon and loosing functionality of the bezel while embarrassingly using the features of another icon in completely wrong context. That Submariner looks terrible, absolutely fake and makes me think bad thoughts about a fellow human. |

But I agree the half/half split doesn't make sense in a diving bezel. Something like red on the 0-15 (or 20)mins would make functional sense. Like this: But on a different note, it's amazing how conditioned we are. Most of us see a pepsi bezel on a Sub and feel immediate rejection, pretty much the same thing with a Jubilee. But somehow we feel that those same things look perfectly correct on a GMT !! Frankly, the two watches are almost identical in aesthetic design... |

It looks as good as if you threw a dive bezel on a Datejust and makes as much functional sense as an HEV on a Cellini. |

Well it doesn't look wrong, it's just a slight difference in hands. Could easily be my GMTs twin! So it doesn't offend my eyes
And functionality...I've been wearing divers watches all my life, I love 'em! I'm also a poor swimmer, and wouldn't dream of going in the sea, for fear of trampling something wriggly, sharp, or venemous :) I wonder what percentage of "you can't dive with that" bought a divers watch for diving. With. |

Great for people that want to tell others that they have a fake watch, it certainly looks fake.

No thanks. I don't even care for the LV. The sub bezel is supposed to be black.

Cool thought but I always thought that the whole point of the dual-colored GMT bezels was to visually separate day from night on the 24 hour bezel. I've always noticed the darker is always night and the lighter is always day. That's why it just doesn't work for a diver's watch with minute markers on the bezel.

What if?
My question is why? What function would a night/day color combo serve on a dive watch besides the look? |
