Great post! Loved reading about the evolution of the collection...which I must say, is a most enviable one!

I laughed at your Sub phase, because there was a point in the evolution of my collection also when I had three black Subs. As you said, "the Submariner was all I could think about."

Thanks for sharing your journey, Gus!

you just proved that 'building' a watchcollection never really stops! great journey you've had and thanks for sharing it here with us. I think a passion like ours is even better when shared with likeminded people...and that's where TRF comes in.

Great journey! I love these kinds of posts. You've filtered through some great pieces and ended up with a fantastic collection.
Was there an issue with the 5170 that caused it to be sent in?

I try to give them all wrist time but lately the Pateks have been getting the attention

Nice to see you can "limit" yourself to a nice 4-6 watch collection. This is really the best way to go in my opinion, but I find it very difficult to choose the right watches when there are so many great choices! I'm a big fan of the Sub, GMT, Explorer and Milgauss (both old and new). But also of Patek, JLC, IWC, Omega and Panerai watches haha!
I create a lot of parameters in what I like and don't like, what I find useful and superfluous... By the time I go through the list I eliminate most of the competition... Which ever had been left standing I try to get on my wrist to see if it works for me.

Thank you Sam. I wouldn’t say no regrets as selling my 5711 now would have been much preferred to 2 years ago but seriously the watches I have let go we’re all for a reason, sometimes when they’re gone we forget why (like old girlfriends) but ultimately that little tick (pun intended) returns.

Great post Gus! I love hearing about people's journey as they grow their collection and change pieces in and out, the reasoning behind it is fascinating to me.

You have a great collection there, congratulations on it and enjoy the future journey

Thank you for sharing and I agree, photography skill has improved dramatically, I love how you frame the shots- especially an old one of yours I saw a while ago, the Jumbo with a lighter.
