The results of service look great. You can wear it now for many years if you wish.
I love hearing stories like yours. Many of the Rolex watches that people inherit seem to come from a one watch person who wore it for many years. It's always great to hear about the pride and excitement somebody had when they brought their Rolex home for the first time.

There's always going to be someone with more and better; none will have one from your father and nothing can hold that sort of sentimental value. My dad left me a gold Bulova which is a nice dress watch; I value it more that any of my other watches. Congratulations on getting it nicely restored!!!

I appreciate all of your kind comments.

Mom was holding the watch with all smiles, as she shared stories on when it was purchased, and how much it meant for dad.

You lot here at TRF are a part of it as well, I learned so much on Rolex watches here, especially on instructions for overhaul to vintage pieces; light polishing, chamfers and saving the dial / hands. Everything on this watch is original, it was shipped with the Rolesor Oyster bracelet.
The serial numbers, production code VE (1980) on the bracelet 78353, end links 457 with 19mm lug are all valid.

Even the tritium lume is still glowing for a few seconds for the shot, I attached a few photos to share.
I thank you to the wonderful community of Rolex scholars here.

Beautiful watch, thanks for sharing. I too inherited a Rolex, this from my Grandfather. It's an oyster with date (no quick set, no hacking) made in 1959 (I think). It keeps near perfect time, which impresses me greatly for a 56 year old time piece. At a glance, it looks very much like a modern 36 mm Rolex. I don't wear it much, but when I do, I am reminded of my Grandfather, his legacy, and the legacy I will one day leave my sons, together with their great-Grandfather's watch.
