That is my absolute most favorite Rolex saying.

Or perhaps fake gold or that gold alloy which is not gold you wrote about before.

I've always tried to post in a respectful manner and never to imply what was not said I would hope others extend me the same courtesy. What I did say is that since we have technology just like Rolex uses to make white gold watches that will never yellow overtime due to the process in which they are made, we could do the same with a gold Watch. I would never implied to make fake gold as such a thing does not exist, if your point holds true I guess they are making fake stainless steel watches now in the form of white gold.

I believe that if someone wants gold they should buy it in blocks, again thats simply my opinion I hope you can respect it like I respect yours

Depends if you want a watch with a bracelet or a strap, chrono vs diver, if your movement snobby...

What about the exclusivity aspect. I heard AP is on a much higher level than Rolex and stainless steel sub you can buy for around $7-8k. A stainless steel Royal oak chrono runs for about $20k after discount. AP watches are more expensive and they only manufacture 30k watches per year and they are hand finished. Rolex makes over a million watches a year......

They are beautifully finished and decorated, but we are comparing bracelet and strap here as well. For me once I got a gold Oyster and then President bracelet the strap on my RG AP did not feel so special. Now the AP ROC on bracelet is a wonderful piece but I think it is more delicate than the Rolex and can be worn less often, much of this is psychological as well as the AP bracelet is a work of art; and of all the dials the Rolex blue dial trumps the APs.

I prefer the Sub hands down. I don't think you can do much better than the 116618LB. It is a special watch.

I have had both (rubberclad), but the 116618 is really a piece of art.

See, I'm the opposite, Neil... Once I bought my 1st AP on bracelet, the Oyster (even my all gold version) didn't come close to comparing. My 44mm is on Gator, and I absolutely LOVE it and would take it over an Oyster any day. I will admit, I am a huge fan of the gator straps though.

You're not really comparing the RG ROC to a RC are you?

OP, have you played with the ROC in your hands, or just going by pix? Though some pix look good, the RO's have to be see and held in person to really appreciate them, IMO.
As some have mentioned, the ROC on bracelet would be an absolute killer! though a higher price point for sure.

Mike, I don't disagree with you over the RG RO bracelet and indeed the RG Nautilus bracelet too, altho I think the President bracelet can stand with them, but it was more the strap on my ROC that suffered after I went full gold.

My Pres bracelet was nicer then my Oyster for sure, and we both agree the RO bracelet is better than the Oyster. I think I misunderstood/misread your post about that.

I do absolutely LOVE my AP gator strap and prefer it to the Oyster. Again, I'm just a huge fan of the Gator straps in general.

How's the resale value on the 116618 sunburst sub? Does it hold value well over time. What's a fair price for new and/or preowned ?

Cannot fathom laying out that much money for a strap watch... A PP like Dave's (Racer DJ) maybe is an exception, but that is where it ends for me...

I like them both -- but they couldn't be more different from one another.... I would likely always go AP over just about anything --- and LOVE the fit and finish --- wore my ROC (bracelet) daily for quite sometime --- now I am wearing a YG Daytona on a strap. (I am a big fan of an alligator strap) -- I'm also a big Chrono fan...

if you want an AWESOME PM Diver --- THAT would be the one to get...

just my .02

AP ROC rose gold on strap def a more exclusive watch but I do love the bling of the sunburst sub, the AP rose gold is a very light shade of rose gold, not as much blind, very reserved look.

It's all about the brand and exclusivity. I love the sunburst sub. But so many people have Stainless steel submariners. Not many have an AP roc stainless or gold
