Great photo comparison. The DS is an absurd chunk of jewelry which I will never want.

Wow, thank you for posting these pics! That DSSD is massive! The guy wearing it in the pics should have strapped it to his thigh.
I would love to see one in person but not sure how I would like it. |

Thanks for the comparison. I've been waiting for that to show up and it makes me realize I'm not interested in the DSSD. That thing is a beast as far as thickness goes and I can't imagine wearing it on a daily basis. It doesn't look like it would be comfortable at all.

For comparison, when I look down at the Sub on my wrist not only do the lugs not come close to the edge of my wrist, but I can see the SEL + 2 1/2 links before it starts folding around out of view. We're all different, but lets be honest, this watch size will seem more appropriate on some wrists than others...so I believe a blanket response of "It's too big!" doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. You're correct Gil...this guy should probably be sporting it on his thigh as opposed to his wrist! Cheers. |

hmm..
Thanks for the link. I want to like the DSSD ... but based solely on the pictures, I can't say it's my cup of tea. I'm appreciating my SD more and more.

I think this is exclusively " For Divers Watch" only! Strictly for "Ocean Use" and nothing else! I don't think I want to be seen in the mall with this monster on! Not for me!

The DSSD on my thigh, foot, head whatever will be the same compared to the sd. It's the watches (you know DSSD vs SD.... Rolex Forum... about watches etc etc remember) not the wrist you are supposed to be looking at! |

Excuse the typo on my post above. Should have read "Exp II M/3186" and not "Exp II M/3386". Noticed it too late to edit it.

You buy a Casio, I'll wear the DSSD. I have seen the press release kit given to AD's here in canada, and IMHO nothing on this watch is ugly or cheap looking. The technology behind this watch is amazing, and I'm fairly confident that once the DSSD becomes available, they will become as scarce and desirable as the SS Daytona. I'm sorry you don't appreciate the DSSD.

And wait there's more while they haven't arrived yet the new subs will be amazing, solid links and a bracelet adjustment system that will knock you out, ceramic bezel..... Why pay +$10K for the DSSD (12 month waiting list) when you could wait for the new sub after Basel 2009, 9 month waiting list????? |

Saw this few days ago on that forum and sorry those shots just don't do justice. The size of the head looks unporpotional especially the bezel looks too big for the dial, also with the small lug width of 21mm...The dial in those pics look like crap. Side view is alright though.

Checked in with an AD today - she called her distributor and was told late November/December for the first to arrive. This is just one person checking... I read other threads speculating maybe August. Anyway, just passing along an update because I think the watch is great and hope to get one.

Great pics of the DS, but for me it's going to be an easy choice I'm going to stay with my SD

Way to big, and highly unnecessary, unless you are going to drive rivets with it.

Big is ok but still it's too busy.. Sorry to say but, this is a looser for me. Not a real tool but pure marketing B.S.. I really don't think guys who dive at those depths rely on wristwatches.. They rely on the guy in life support control. Should have upgraded the bracelet on the SD and Sub and left it alone. I do not think COMEX's current record come close to the depth rating of this watch.

I'm late to this thread, but if the dial size is the same between the SD and the DS, then this watch is a true disappointment. I don't know why, but that fact makes me think less of the DSSD.
