Rolex connection too icky...

Just my HO but I think making any connection with the Rolex and your quitting smoking is just plain way too complicated.
Separate the two. Forget the Rolex. Do you want to quit? Are you serious? Answer that one FIRST. If I were you I'd think of the consequences of your smoking. Likely your girl friend is affected by your smoking hence her offer. She likely has concerns for your long term health.
Good Luck!

Quit. Smoking is not good for you and your health will improve. WHat a great offer.

On another thought ..... for those that smoke, quit and the savings alone would pay for a new watch in a short period of time.

Well said, Mark. A "packet" a day, makes the Rolex go further away!

Bogey;

Thank your GF and then respectfully decline her offer. At this point in time you are essentially guaranteed to fail in your attempt to quit smokiing.

Now that was 'encouraging' if you ask me, Mink. Quite the pessimist, aren't you?

A smoker can always come up for a good reason to smoke.
That won't change.
Quit.
Then tell her the money she promised you for a watch is hers to spend doing something she'd like to do.

Bogey,

I quit 6 years ago (well the last time anyway, I consider all the times I tried to quit as practice), and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I am a person crimes detective (Sex crimes, Homicide, Robbery), and I am on a SWAT team. I know about high stress situations, and smoking only adds to them.
The whole argument about stress and family problems is BS. I used it also for years, but ultimately it is a crutch. The calming effect you feel is your body's response to feeding the addiction. When you can not smoke, the addiction adds stress on top of the stress from the situation. Sometimes it feels like a 600lb gorilla on your shoulders. Not letting someone smoke is one of the interrogation tricks we use with bad guys. After your smoke is done, the problems are still there. When you kick the habit, you will be better able to handle uncomfortable situations. Not to mention you'll have a new Rolex. Overall it is a win/win, plus you'll have more money and smell (both your sense of smell and how you smell to others), taste, and feel better.

At first you'll crave a smoke whenever stressed, or during social situations you usually smoked in, but it will pass. In the last 6 years I have had alot of cravings, but only smoked 1 cigarette. It was when one of my team mates got killed on a SWAT call. About half way through I "kicked myself" and put it out. It didn't help change anything and only made me feel sick. I have not had a craving since.

Good Luck!

P.S. I used Zyban "Welbutrin", and it worked well.
