Right GMT Aviator what you call the frosted clasp (I called it the raised black script) is definitely something new.
The engraved/polished clasp could be on an old Rolex, or could be on a new one - there is no way to tell that I can see. Engraved/polished clasp looks the same on my older ones, and on my newest 2015 ones. But the raised black script stands out as something new. |

I don't know what the situation is with Submariners as I don't possess one, but the sub bracelet I received via my AD direct from Rolex UK has the frosted type. Maybe my bracelet was still old stock from Rolex? I have no idea? |

Yeah I like the old one too. Wouldn't stop me from buying new ones though

Well then it seems that the raised black script (frosted) clasp appeared sometime after 2010 (I say 2010 because the Hulk did not exist before 2010), stayed for a period of time and perhaps has now disappeared.
But the engraved/polished clasp, from staring at a number of my very new and older Rolexes, seems like this engraved/polished version has been the same. In other words, that having an engraved/polished clasp in itself doesn't mean anything as far as dating the clasp or the Rolex. |
