Or ... if you're asking how does one know whether or not red paint has just been added to the word "Submariner" on the dial, the watch's serial number needs to fall within the range of red 1680s for it even to be considered a legit dial. |

Knowing if it's a real redsub dial has nothing to do with the papers , it's about having the expertise to determine that or not, if you don't have the expertise to tell or the time required to acquire that expertise , then take the shorter quicker route and learn which dealers have the expertise to do it for you as part of the purchase price when you buy from them. If you are in the market for a $350k 6265 pn ... You really need to be in a place where you can safely buy a redsub first !!! |

True with the 6265 I've seen many and owned two (non P.N.), and actually over the years I would just break out the one that we'd owned since it was practically new - from back when they were worth maybe $1000., and compare it. Since I knew what was original stock, I could compare every aspect to determine what wasn't right, and became a bit of an expert on the 6265 from examining them and taking them apart so many times.
With the red sub I almost bought one once, but I don't know much about them. |

The watch is gorgeous....the seller's reputation is also great. I think i know this watch as i reviewed it on the website as well. An unpolished 1680 red with papers at 16.5k is a steal of a steal. Well done. However, my issue with the watch was that the papers consisted of a handwritten booklet and not a cert (at least from what i saw online). The booklet itself was one that i thought would have been paired with an earlier date of sale but i could be wrong about that. I have seen those booklets on sale for about a grand so in my mind (and i don't want to rain on your parade....the watch is gorgeous and the case is awesome -please do not polish-) you got an unpolished watch for 16.5 with handwritten papers....i am not sure i would call that a full set. That being said, i am sitting here green with envy due to the condition of the watch. Well done.
If the market for an unpolished ff red is in the mid teens, does that mean a full set punched with anchor, box, and stamped cert is in the 20's? |

Nice piece , are we really at 16k , I swear a year or two ago that watch would have been 10-11 k sans the papers , but if you gotts have it you gotta have it
