furthermore seeing as it has been identified as 6205 but not really- i will say that dial was PRIOR to the 6205 circa 1953
Think your missing the point Toph.....It Has been identified as a 6205 (the case is stamped as such)There is no questioning that its a very early sub

Its the dial that is an odd one.......Is it a one off or is it an original dial(for the 6205) with the arabics added at a later date...

The only way to tell would be to have it looked at by Rolex........They made it so they would be the best bet to tell the owner and in turn us exactly what the watch is all about.

ok. i would like to try and work this out
Can we acertain that the actual watch is marked 6205? Please let me know newbirolex.
i have never seen this dial but it is not marked submariner which was done proir to 1954. the 6205 was released after the 6204 that was released at basel 1954. If this is a 6205 then the dial has been redone or replaced with an older one ( thats where i was getting confused) finally on the 6205 i have only ever seen the the brevet crowns with the rolex coronet with the word brevet under it.(i could be wrong here as your version may have existed and i have just not seen or read about it).
I would agree take it to rolex and let them inform you all about it

From what I have found, that dial appears to be a 1940's style designed for the Canadian market. I have found two watches with the same dial. One on a 1942 Oyster Centregraph and one on a 1940's Rolex Lincoln. The website I found is www.coolvintagewatches.com.

From what I can find, the dial seems to be similar to a 1940's style. I have seen that dial on a 1942 Oyster Centregraph, and, a 1940's Rolex Lincoln. Pm me and I will give the website where I saw them.

beware that bracelet, i have a vintage that belonged to my father in law that had an after market one. The fit was so poor that the ends gouged the case so bad it made the serial # unreadable.
