Here in Italy Daytonas are seldom seen, Italians much prefer Submariners and Datejusts, with third favorite the pepsi GMT (90% 16710) . The few you can see are usually 16520 with white dial, the 6-digit references are usually either on the wrist of tourists or they are fake.

Chaps

When I worked in London about 10 years ago, Rolex were as common as muck, you saw them on the wrist of every 30 yr plus middle manager upwards every day of the week. They usually bought them when they were paid their annual bonuses.

Surprisingly I have seen several YG Date Justs on the wrists of many doddery old men in Spain this week. Normally I only see the very occasional Sub.

Regards

Mick

PS - I have a marital problem, my wife wants me to buy a YG DateJust and I hate the things.

Been wearing Daytonas since 1983.
In all that time somewhere around 88 or 89 is only time I've seen one in the wild, it was what we now refer to as vintage.

What a coincidence. I just saw one earlier today for the first time. My reaction was, this guy has good taste.

I saw a gentleman last weekend @ Lord and Taylor in the King of Prussia mall absolutely out cold sleeping in the women's shoe section. He was wearing a white Daytona, l wish he was awake so I could have complemented him.

Perhaps most people who own them consider the Daytona a special occasion watch and not a daily wearer. I see far more Subs and GMTs too but do see Daytona's around Houston. It seems when I do see one it's more often a PM Than SS.

Why I never see anyone with Daytona?

I saw the Daytona every single day include WG, RG and uncountable SS. So boring !

Same with me, maybe I'm just not very observant. I only notice a guy's watch if I'm like directly talking to them. I've only ever seen like a Daytona, Sub, SD, EXI, EXII, and DJ. Weird thing is I don't think I've seen two of the same watches. Definitely never seen anyone else wearing the same milgauss as me.

I see them now and then here in NYC.

I saw a young woman at the spring St 6 subway station with a Panda Dial a year or so ago.

When I was at an internet marketing conference in San Diego this past February, I saw a guy with a white dial stainless steel sitting in the seat in front of me.

About three months ago at my law firm, I saw an opposing counsel in my building elevator with another white dial.

I see Submariner Date watches very frequently, though.

They're out there, keep looking!

I feel like I often see people wearing Daytonas. Perhaps slightly less often than Subs, but pretty frequently.

Not common where I live or hang out (or at work), haven't seen one recently.

As Dr. Tom says...
Or almost any day at the track I see plenty of them. And many genuine Rolex 24 winners too.

I'm surprised. I see someone wearing a Daytona almost every day (not me-yet). Seriously, almost every day. Maybe it's where I work - near 57th St and Madison Ave. I see far fewer no-date Subs, Explorers, SDs.

I've never noticed a Daytona and I am very much watch aware and an old timer. I see a lot of DayDate Presidents and a few Submariners.

My guess is if someone can afford a Daytona, they can afford a DayDate and it is a real classic.

Here in Fort Smith, Arkansas I've never seen a Daytona in the wild. Tons of Subs and Date-Justs. And by tons I mean I see one per month.

Never seen a Daytona in the wild. In a year,. I will see less than 10 Rolexes in the wild. I look. It's also usual to see someone wearing a watch. Seattle.

My personal experience, I rarely see Daytona's as well. But ironically I have seen more Patek or APs in Manhattan. As well as the quintessential Rolexes, Datejust, Sub, GMT. I reckon I see alot of DJs on the subway or walking in the streets of Manhattan the most.

I have a black 116520. I wear it daily. I also seldom see people wearing Daytona. I guess some people keep it in safe, an wear it in occasion only. Its a beautiful watch. I will not flip it.
